By my rough count of the 26 existing MLS stadiums:
10 are international companies
3 are national
4 have no sponsorship
9 are regional companies

I really doubt they would do that. Doesn't seem on brand for the company to put their name on the stadium.chriss752 wrote:Square just makes the most sense to me. They're moving to Downtown and the Stadium is close enough to a square as-is. So name it something like "Square Stadium". The Square Logo already partially resembles the stadium being built.

It's like the majority cross section of our stroller-slinging Tower Grove South subreddit infiltrated the ownership group or something.
A lot of pro soccer is cheesy tbh. The only MLS game I've been to had the vibe and median age of a middle school pep assembly.bwcrow1s wrote: ↑Jun 11, 2021The bolded CITY stuff just feels cheesy to me now. I'm not sure why.
This one ends after the 2025 season...sc4mayor wrote: ↑Jun 12, 2021^ The KMOX article said that too, I guess Mr. Calhoun decided to leave that out of his tweet...helps with the clicks I suppose. Heinz Field's rights are up at the end of this year and since Heinz moved to Chicago from Pittsburgh (after the Kraft-Heinz merger), it's not likely they'll keep the rights after 2021. I'm sure there are plenty of other naming rights deals that are coming due in the next few years too.
Yes. I don't think anyone ever suggested otherwise, at least not after those interlopers acquired the Harry's property to throw up their cheap hotel. I am sure that was the main reason the team owners chose to locate the stadium north of Market. There was no way they were going to pry even half of that parking lot away from LHM...STLinCHI wrote: ↑Jun 30, 2021Hard to fathom how the stadium would have fit south of Market. Seems like the LHM lot would have been needed.
The Bricklayer's Union is above Maggie O's.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Jun 30, 2021^ It would have used that lot. The original plan (pre-Taylor’s) was to knock down the union hall next to Maggie O’s and build it in there.
Are you serious? I thought the whole thing with the St. Louis stadium was how the sections are stacked and even the furthest seat from the field is not that far away. How is the stadium much wider?urbanitas wrote: ↑Jun 30, 2021That said, the stadium being built is quite a bit wider than the smaller MLS stadiums.
The police retirement system office is in the building next door, that would have been knocked down. Splitting hairs, tbh.
