I think the bay window is functional in that it will provide a view of the practice fields.

Considering the clean lines of their stadium and campus (and garageurbanitas wrote: ↑Jul 27, 2021^I understand they want to tie the building into their overall soccer campus theme, but that modern "bay window" looks ridiculous. CRO gave it a pass though, no surprise.
The only thing to which the CRO objected was the removal of part of the original iron canopy. The renderings of the east façade canopy aren't consistent, but I'd guess they want to remove the canopy on the northeast corner because it looks "old" and/or would partially block their CITY sign?
Hopefully, this is just the first iteration.

I just called Upper Limits, and they said they have no plans to leave the building.MarkGroth2020 wrote: ↑Jul 26, 2021^ I wonder if Upper Limits will stay, move or close.
Yeah, that's part of the reason I'm sure, but it certainly doesn't have to cover half of the façade to accomplish that, nor does it have to look like someone glued a large stadium mock-up to the side of a century-old brick building.Black02AltimaSE wrote: ↑Jul 28, 2021I think the bay window is functional in that it will provide a view of the practice fields.
Why not red or black steel framing with floor-to-ceiling industrial warehouse-style windows, to complement all the ironwork on the train shed, and on the building itself?

Notes from the supporters' group meeting Saturday night:
-The supporters' section will be all "safe-standing" (no seats, rails to lean against if necessary)
-The supporters' section will have built-in landings for drums and capos (i.e. those who lead everyone in chants and get everyone hyped)
-The supporters' section will have the steepest incline in the MLS to give it a sense of being a wall of fans (like Dortmund)
-The stadium will have built-in rigging for tifos (large banners displayed in the stands) of up to 257' in width
This is getting exciting indeed

St. Louis CITY SC making progress on stadium construction

Figured Fox2 would have had a video, but just this poor quality screenshot:The final steel beam of the stadium’s superstructure was placed on Thurs., Aug. 12 by the team’s construction partners Mortenson, Alberici and L. Keeley.
The pre-cast phase of construction is now finished and concrete floors are in place on all decks. The project will now move to finishing the canopy scaffold as well as roofing, curtain walls, field lighting, speaker supports and metal panels. The next phase will see exterior enclosure and interior mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishes. Later this year the team is hoping to celebrate the first seats being anchored in the stadium. Additionally, there is ongoing foundation work for the fan pavilion and the team’s new state-of-the-art training facility. The construction team is looking to begin structural work for the training facility within the next few weeks.

^The primary difference being that I don't believe Il Papa uses his as a quiet, out-of-the-way place to defecate, although...who really knows what he does up there?
Where's the Anthem peeps going to park now, or are they all working from home?

^The fence and barriers in the street have been up for weeks now despite being just reported here, and the parking lot is still being used every day except for where the buildings were demolished, so good question.
Why not park in the garage being built? I doubt there will be games during the week within daytime hours.
The earliest local start time I've found on a weekday over the last few normal MLS seasons was 6:00 PM. Obviously, people may start arriving at least an hour early to find a full garage, but I guess it could work since it would only be a few times a year. I'm not so sure about other weekday events, such as academy games, high school playoffs, training camps, etc., however.STLinCHI wrote: ↑Sep 25, 2021Why not park in the garage being built? Anyway, I was referring more to the parking situation during several months of construction. It was seemingly so critically important to resolve the Anthem parking situation, that it delayed the stadium construction and they paid a premium to purchase a whole city block and immediately demolish everything on it, so...

Oh, I was in the wheel this weekend and got a pano of all of the construction from the new overpass to the stadium
Just curious as I know little about MLS culture, but is some equivalent of NFL tailgating a thing at all or some sort of "pregaming"?
^My understanding, which is also limited, is that it's more about meeting at some nearby soccer friendly bar and then parading to the stadium en masse wearing scarfs and waving flags, as opposed to posting up in a parking lot.
I’m not a soccer savvy either but do have a lot of friends that are and Wabash is correct! In Chicago we get wasted before the game at a bar!wabash wrote:^My understanding, which is also limited, is that it's more about meeting at some nearby soccer friendly bar and then parading to the stadium en masse wearing scarfs and waving flags, as opposed to posting up in a parking lot.

That's awesome. Should really breathe some new life into Downtown West.

Yep - there's a pretty healthy professional soccer tail-gaiting community already here that is run by the professional soccer Supporters Group known as the Saint Louligans (https://stlouligans.com/ - https://twitter.com/StLouligans/). They will most likely be organizing the tailgaiting locations/times/events. They are very active, event in October, active podcast, etc.
From what I've heard they will probably be setting up at Schlafly and then "marching" into the game. Not sure if they'll be able to shut down traffic like FCCincy was able to do, but I have heard they are working on it.

I suggested to union station to open a soccer bar at the corner of 20th and market, if you recall there was a Mexican restaurant right off 20th at the corner of union station
Fieldhouse or Urban Chestnut would be good options. Locust is a really nice walk, it wouldn't be too disruptive as Locust is not really heavily trafficked, and either would be a bit more of a march than the 1/2 bock between Schlafly and the stadium.pattimagee wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021From what I've heard they will probably be setting up at Schlafly and then "marching" into the game. Walking from Schalfy to the stadium is just crossing Olive….not much of a march

Just an idea of what it looked like in Cincy - if they could figure out how to get a shot like this on Market looking east...
