Anyone remember what LEED certification this is going for? I can't find it.

So I hear conflicting estimates above, on the tower and its ability to stand out. If it can clear the Peabody Building it should be a nice addition from the angle above. I just wonder if it will have any visibility from the Poplar or from the Casino Queen view. I hope they add some sort of lighting at the top, to allow it to stand out. That would be great.

Originally there was a "European style" sign proposed for the top. I hope they go through with that.
CS, I agree. I would love to see more neon signs downtown. I noticed KPMG and Greensfelder put up some nice signs. I guess they want to be on TV during the All Star Game.
Talked to contractors at the site today.
The tower is at floor 15 right now.
The tower will top out at 26 floors total
The tower will just be a little over 350' tall

That's great! If these guys are accurate then this building will appear about 2 stories shorter than One City Center. This should be a good sized addition for downtown.
Clayton can keep that squaty 250 foot Centenne tower, haha.

Fairly substantial rumor, don't know if this has been discussed, not naming sources, pretty sure they are good, but I heard that the Roberts Brothers are out of money and cannot pay the contractors to finish the job. The building will be wrapped and sealed until the economy picks up and they can actualy sell the units. The building will not be completed at this time. The contractor does not even have clearance to put a large crane over existing building anyway. That hurdle would have impeded the crew from completing the top floors. I don't know the process for getting that done, but why the h*ll does every other city get things done and not our fair city???
That is all I know, heard and once the info is official, I may know more. Bad for Downtown, bad for St. Louis region, bad, bad , bad, bad, bad!!!
Somebody should tell the workers who are adding height to the crane as I write this post.

i don't know about that. if we, the general public, would know that the roberts are out of money, you would think this conversation would have been happening with the contractor for a while now. and if that's the case, work would have stopped a while ago in fears of not getting paid. me being a contractor have that problem happen with my sub contractors.

^My understanding is that the crane issue is only on one particular side of the building. Not the entire jobsite. However, not being able to fly a crane over one crucial part of the site, really complicates the project. This has been an ongoing issue for some time.
^I don't know the specifics on the Roberts finances, but I do know that unless something changes, the job will be completed to the point where work can pick up once things improve or the finances are in order. That would mean the building will be wrapped and sealed. Nothing is set in stone, but my sources are very good.
^^Looks like my info earlier was a bit off. The exterior will be completed, it is the interior work that will, for the most part, be halted, until the economic climate improves. The crane issue is still present, but will hopefully be resolved with the city.

Your whining is bullsh!t. These types of comments and self-pity have to stop amongst us - the urbanists of the region - if we're to create a better city. You think that no other city has a stalled project right now? I don't mean one on the drawing boards, but hulking towers unfinished, jobsites abandoned. It's NOT a St. Louis problem.

^Just seems that way at times. I see cranes all over other cities. Is this a nationwide issue, yes, but we as St. Louisans want to see our city succeed so much, that it hits us so much harder when these great projects get stalled or cancelled. I want to see this city reach it's potential before I die. Excuse me for being down right now. Not whining, just stating the facts, nothing seems to get done around here. Believe me, I want positive change as much as anyone, but urbanist still take a backseat to St. Louis politicians and their cronies. They seem to get in the way of progress. Some of us are down right now for good reason.

^ fair enough, but "nothing seems to get done around here" isn't a "fact". Setbacks are common and in fact increase along with activity. The city needs a 100 big ideas on the table to get 10 accomplished.

Have the Roberts' ever built anything without some sort of drama or it turning into a cluster?
Roberts Plaza: horrible design
Orpheum Theater: complete crap
Hotel Indigo: delayed after fight with contractors
Tower: now possibly delayed

^ True, but the cancelled projects are BIG and need to get done
eventually.
I guess I am very impatient and want the city to suceed so bad. I also get a bit miffed when I see cranes all over other cities, especially smaller cities. This city has so much potential and I want to see cranes all over this city as well. I was so excited several years ago. I hope to feel that excitement once the economy rebounds. I expect Roberts and BP Village to get done, just impatient.

Not whining, just stating the facts
The crane is and has been humming and swinging wherever it needs to go. It is being extended to the new height as we speak. As far as the Roberts Tower goes we can't really call it facts you're stating. For now, let's call it rumors or hearsay.
The fact that they are not finishing the interior is nothing new. The units will be partly custom-designed to the tastes of the future residents.
Looks like my info earlier was a bit off.
See, that's what I mean. Within the time frame of two posts you already had to change your "facts".
Please keep hearsay from these boards, folks. It's damaging and useless. Let's get the facts first.
(American cutbacks anyone?)

Sounds like they have questionable business model and strategies. Regarding RT, I question putting a luxury tower on a site that you cannot put underground parking. I also question the timing, moving forward during the impending recession and soft condo market. I was down at the 10th street lofts yesterday and the Orpheum Theater looked like it has not been well kept. I absolutely love the venue and wish it could attract more acts. I'd assume with the proper management, it would.
