He played five shows here a few weeks ago, so he has no problem coming to Stl.

He spoke on his podcast about his time in St. Louis after doing those shows. He had a great time in St. Louis.
He shouted out several restaurants and businesses that he enjoyed in the podcast episode that is shared above.

Just listened to it - he spent a lot of time on it! I was at the Thursday show where he complains about the POS noises.RockChalkSTL wrote: ↑Oct 06, 2023He spoke on his podcast about his time in St. Louis after doing those shows. He had a great time in St. Louis.

Stifel plastered over NBC this afternoon. I can’t say I’ve seen them on the national stage before.

Ruby Leigh from Foley Missouri which is just north of us is doing really well in The Voice - I'm probably jinxing it by posting, lol
https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/col ... 909f2.html
"On Monday night’s broadcast of the hit NBC singing competition, 16-year-old Leigh competed in the knockout rounds against her teammates for a playoff spot, and in the end, their coach Reba McEntire selected Leigh. Leigh knocked the socks off McEntire, and everyone, with her graceful yet powerful rendition of LeAnn Rimes’ “Blue,” quite the fitting song choice for Leigh."

^Interesting. It's reasonable they could have also given recognition to the Art Deco BP at North Newstead and Laclede if they knew about it.

I don't understand how their modeling shows big decreases in precipitation in kansas at both 2 and 5 degs of warming but at 3 degrees the impact to precipitation is much less.JaneJacobsGhost wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2023Kansas stands out as a big climate change loser

A bit of a stretch but this recent video by Vox used a research paper from WashU as part of their research for the topic at hand (you can see them find it at about the 6 minute mark):
Nice pic of One Hundred in the Facebook group World Cityscapes and Skyscrapers.

Nice views of the Arch and old courthouse on Disney's Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Here is a fan blog's recap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fefhyazx7Ao There are various scenes of the Arch and the old courthouse throughout this youtube video. The Arch is described as a secret temple to Athena. Unfortunately, it was shot in Vancouver, CA but the recreations of the ride up to the top and the top of the Arch are realistic. It could start some interest in tourism to the Arch and St. Louis.

There is a Wall Street Journal story coming on basically that Downtown Recovery Index that for STL covers the orange area, where we had the highest density of workers pre covid and compares it to today. I spoke with the reporter about how that doesn’t really tell a whole story about downtown activity.
Yellow is what the index previously had for “downtown” and purple is what we all consider downtown.

Is the article a general review of the findings or is it specific about St. Louis?

Specific to STL. He’s done other cities in the past. https://www.wsj.com/real-estate/commerc ... es-d0e3391

That’s too bad. I was hoping we were taking a turn from the hit jobs based on poor data.

The Business Journal this week had a cover story about "how St. Louis is seen by the rest of the country". I can't get past the paywall. Can anyone give a Cliff's Notes version?
600 business leaders throughout the country. Here are there "first thoughts", in order of frequency, when asked about St. Louis:
Gateway Arch
Sports teams
Crime
Anheuser-Busch
In decline
Racial issues
Attractions (museums, zoos, etc.)
Universities
BBQ and good food
Empty, dirty, rough downtown
Mississippi River
Former resident / where I grew up
Government/politics-related issues
44% had a somewhat positive or very positive overall impression of the region.

It goes to prove that what WE as a community and WE as a city (both personally and through media) put out there is what is going to be on the forefront of others perceptions.
I have said for years, STLians and our media sources in this city are our worst enemies.
I'm not native and moved here in 1995. We love this city. We have seen this city grow and mature into a much better place to live (IMHO). The city and county division has to end and until then, I really don't think (no matter how much amazing progress is in this city) will even change the preceptions at large.
