This is a really good article on the whole AB/Goose Island relationship.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/ ... -ab-inbev-

I know AB has a very loose leash and they trust the Goose Island people... but part of me wonders if/when ever MacroBeer owns the majority of the the craft market they can start squeezing out the little guys again. Hell, they are already lobbying to squeeze out growler fills and bar space right now... it worries me...

Here's the article on it...

Where in Maplewood? The old Monarch space at Manchester and Sutton?

^^ thanks pattimagee; exactly what I was looking for. If Goose Island brings a brewpub to CWE that would be a rather big deal I'd think. And hopefully that Cathedral Square plan for Holy Corners is still kicking.

Agreed - I would really like to see Cathedral Square get moving soon.

And I didn't get any specifics on what specific building's 2nd shift was looking into...

From what I have heard, 2nd Shift will be in the city not Maplewood. The brewery will be along Manchester but I think technically in the Hill neighborhood.

That would be cool too - I'm just relaying what I heard from SP. I'm just happy to have them in the city. :)

That's basically what I heard as well - the Hampton and 44 area.

This story feels like it has taken five years. Brew Hub picks a site to build the $20 million facility they said they'd build many times before. It's great that St. Louis has unusual beer related companies that broaden the ecosystem, but this one is playing a bigger corporate game that has a lot of Chesterfield qualities to it. It'd be nice if they could strike a deal with Billy Busch or Griesedieck Brothers to get more contract brewing happening here rather than in the cities with all the abandoned megabreweries.

A few more notes on the inevitable expansion of 4 hands.

Also - "We’ve got all vintage arcade games coming. All the arcade games are [from the] 1980’s,” Lemp says. From Pacman to Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, the arcade will be a nostalgic nirvana for those wishing to button mash while sipping down one of 4 Hands' signature beers. "

Getting rid of that stucco crap is great.

But sadly it makes the suburban setback CVS next door look even worse.

Agreed - and FWIW, this is what it looked like before they pulled off the facing.

I wonder if they've made it into the loop?? With such an impressive build/design, it could made sense?

On the Senn Brewery, a rendering without a location means the plan was created with no context whatsoever. That's the kind of thinking that leads to needless demolition and horrible pedestrian environments.

On Greer's Brewery. Wow another one!

^ Maybe this will go into Green Street's south side redevelopment on the old coke site? I believe at one point they were negotiating with a food or beverage business. It seems like it might be good fit and maybe they will try to get spill over from South County casino

Or they're looking at someplace lame, like Maryland Heights.

Is it the fact that you're looking at it from a mile away or that huge empty area on the side?

I just think with the new Loop residential, street car, etc... dropping a brewery on the east loop would be pretty smart. Fun fact I just learned... The Pageant is in St. Louis City? I didn't know that city line made it into west loop...

They removed the marker that used to be in front of Thai Gai Yang, but there was (is?) also a welcome to U-City sign and a more obvious border just to the north with a street called "Limit Avenue." The Peacock Diner is maybe in U-City, but United Provisions should be in the city limits.

And yes, a brewery around the Delmar station or just to the east would make a lot of money.

Loop would be great since that is a major thing missing. Design looks good if the front is meant to be the street but the tree in the foreground seems to suggest parking lot. Really depends on how they place it and don't overwhelm the site with parking. Would be great if we get a brewery in all of the major entertainment areas/streets.

They're moving along at a good clip. Lots of guys working there yesterday. I'm not sure what the technical term is, but there was a raised area along the roof that was covered and now shows windows. Should let in some good natural light.

The term is clerestory
