I think the vast majority of UCBC patrons would disagree with you on that, as evidenced by its popularity and the overwhelmingly negative response this journalist is getting.
I disagree. I don't see that many dogs there when I go. A few people riled up on social media is a small snapshot of the people who actually go there.

Sauce magazine announced that there is new brewery coming to town this summer (http://www.grimmstreebrewing.com/).
A family brewery will come to the countryside when brothers Andy and Rob Grimm open Grimm’s Tree Brewing in Labadie in early summer 2016. Located on 17 acres at 1029 Thiebes Road, just off Highway 100, the Grimms will build the 3,200-square-foot building from the ground up. Once complete, the facility will have a 15-barrel brew house, cellar, tap room and beer garden.

17 acres is a lot of land for a brewery. Guess that's how they roll in Labadie.

Nice segment on 4Hands. It's from last summer but he talks of expansion and adding a second location. Segment starts at 8min and growth starts at 11min.

The CBC now offers free beer delivery within 3 miles of the store. Thank you Jesus!
Could the CBC be scouting a STL City location?

What does top down mean in this case? Do they mean they'd move in upstairs somewhere and then expand down to the street level? Most breweries that I can think of are single story buildings with high ceilings to accommodate equipment.

I'll just interpret this to mean they're going to rent out space in the Lemp complex and fill up one floor at a time with casks until they own the whole place. :D

I'm just saying the guy's name is Kevin Lemp...

I've known these dudes since before I could drive. They rock. Florissant rocks. Oddly, most people from Florissant have the same unbridled allegiance to "The Beautiful City" as expressed on the bottle.

The St. Louis Brewers Guild says it’s moving the popular Heritage Festival from Forest Park to the downtown riverfront. On June 11, thousands of beer aficionados will be able to gather along the banks of the Mississippi to sample more than 100 styles of beer produced by dozens of area breweries.

The festival will be held along a stretch of Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard, from the base of the Grand Staircase north toward Eads Bridge.

Lots of St. Louis festivals like this one have had space issues in years past. It would be nice if the heritage festival could prove the riverfront to be a more flexible venue than market street or the central field in Forest Park. By choosing the riverfront, the event will interrupt no buses or commuter traffic and it can grow without limit. Maybe in a couple years it could take the full arch grounds riverfront. Then it crosses Eads Bridge and heads to the riverfront trailhead. If the central and near north riverfront are still not big enough, then it could take up the activity areas of the park and fill up the landing. Get the Taste of St. Louis to co-locate and fill up "Eats Bridge." It's a great test of the new urban space

I had never heard of the Recess Brewery until a moment ago. Now I've learned of a great many I didn't notice in my past few years of reduced drinking. There's even one in Festus.

There are more than forty breweries in wider St. Louis area! http://www.stlbg.com/breweries/

40! There used to be like fifteen. At least I knew all of them in the city limits, but wow three in Maryland Heights.

and if you counted a 2nd Schalfly, 2nd Urban Chestnut... the future Side Project, new pizza/brewery replacing six row. Word on the street about a few more popping up out west also.

Bill Streeter has a kickstarter about his new St. Louis beer documentary.

If you thought the name was a conflict with the book of the same name, as I did, there's a paragraph there explaining that they're meant to go together.

Grant's Farm to be anchored by Kaftig brewery. Brewery pays rent to keep the larger operation up and running. It's a sensible idea really. Kraftig needed to set up its operations somewhere in a big way. Grant's Farm is a great choice. The whole place is one vast beer garden.

Yeah - even as a non-Kraftig beer drinker, I'm a little excited about that possibility. I wish the timeline was a bit faster though.

I learned some pretty exciting info tonight while chatting with Side Project about their expansion - 2nd Shift Brewery will be opening a tasting room in Maplewood and Goose Island is also being lured to Maplewood, but will probably be opening a tasting room in Central West End this or next year.

NextSTL says that the Kraftig brewery would be a modest demonstration project, not a flagship brewing facility.
http://www.nextstl.com/2016/03/202382/

It has been five years, and they still don't have a brewery in St. Louis. I believe they're selling in the tens of thousands of barrels range, but there was initial talk of a six million barrel production facility. Have they grown slower than expected? Are they waiting to build until they can build really big? I can't imagine the Billy Busch brewery being AB or Lemp sized, but if they're really that focused on mass market American lagers then they probably want to have an industrial scale production rather than something Grant's Farm sized. Something Maryland Heightsy.

It's Billy Busch the person, not the brewery that's offering to buy Grant's Farm, right?

And... 2nd Shift is one of the best St. Louis area breweries, so hooray for them moving into town. :)

Exactly moorlander. So they brew about 17,000 barrels of a product meant to compete with Miller, Bud, and Coors. They've got a scale problem. They can't build out at craft brewery size because that's not the arena they're playing in. They're stuck in a contract brewing situation.

Goose Island will most likely be opening in CWE is what they said... apparently Side Project has a family relation Goose Island and they are great friends with 2nd Shift. They were trying to make Maplewood a brewery destination with all of the breweries they have there, but they said Goose Island is more interested in CWE, however, they said 2nd shift (tasting room only) is dealing with 2 places on Manchester in Maplewood.

That's interesting to hear about Goose Island.... do you know how independent they are of AB overlords in terms of such decisions?
