ill check it out today and post some pics. thanks.Magnatron wrote:working on ideas for a documentary about the homeless in st. louis.
If you want creepy, squalor, and homeless, see existing thread about the cass tubes/tucker tunnel..... Apparently there is a whole community down there. I posted a pic of the entrance on the thread, but I value my life and my camera, so I did not enter, plus I was alone.

The owners of these buildings need to secure them better. I have heard (from police) that there is a tremendous amount of drug activity on Chouteau's Landing. There are only a few theft incidents noted on the SLMPD website, though (Terk and his girlfriend?
FWIW, I don't think reddragon ever leaves his apartment, so I doubt this could be him, unless he is living in Powell Square now?

i am not red dragon, i have no idea who that is. im just a dude who enjoys exlporing/taking pictures.
you would think there would be more interest, with (im guessing) realatively cheap prices, in this area redevelopment
Chariot: Red Dragon is a forum member who is known for some "interesting" posts on the Plaza Square thread. I'm not sure why his name came up here, but I don't think anyone is thinking you're him.
BTW, I hope to see more of your urban exploration photos soon.

We have raves???
sure, why would you think we didn't? It's all underground advertising and word of mouth right?

Because I am that guy that is always last to hear about anything. I have always been interested in the whole underground rave culture, but I was never hip enough to actually go to one, or even know someone who went that could invite me.... My interest lies mainly in how they could just pop up in random abandoned warehouses etc....

That settles it! We must now throw an urbanstl rave.
Guset of honor: Magnatron
Special guest DJ: reddragon
chariot, you need to get busy scouting locations. Something "scary" but not "too scary." There's womenfolk around here. (Well, at least rumors of 1 or 2)

ill get on it. and yes, the orbs are def invited, they light up to the beatz!
As much as I love the idea of an UrbanSTL Rave, somehow, a bunch of architecure buffs and Urban enthusiasts standing around to a mix of deep trance and house beats... especially if there are only a couple of womenfolk there.... I just dont know if it will go over very well...
But I'm totally there, ready and armed with Lumiere glowsticks and Jello Shots shaped like the Century building.
PS: My wife can spin if Reddragon can't make it...

Wow. That sounds like a rip-snorting good time.
I've never been to a rave, but I don't think I'd care to. I'm not really social. Plus, I don't drink (which usually goes along with partying).

Just dawned on me, we'd have to wait till it got warmer, but what about the Ball park Village lot....There's nothing else goin on there..

I was just kidding about an urbanstl rave (unless of course the orbs are guaranteed to be there
)
The Pujols Pond thing I am totally for though. At least, when I brought it up last summer hoping to do it for a Cards/giants game to mock Barry Bonds & the "boaters" in McCovey Cove.
I definitely was willing to risk getting arrested for that. Now, well I'm not so sure. Recent fatherhood combined with not having a legal agreement on custody yet has made me a little gun-shy.
Geez, I hope this isn't the 1st step towards me officially becoming lame. Not that a bad marriage/divorce & other factors haven't already taken their toll.

Forgive me if this question has an obvious answer but are any of the plans for this building being seriously pursued or does this fall into the banking abyss that seems to have stalled everything from condo work to the rotation of the seasons? Every time I drive to and from work I cruise past this pile and it makes me sick..."welcome to Missouri and St. Louis, here is the most foul looking building on the planet...enjoy your stay."
Just curious.

Good question. At this point, I guess the best answer is kind of, sometime in the future, maybe.
There seems to be more and more graffiti on this building every time I see it - it is actually starting to look like a work of art.

the building has awesome views of the city, i think personally. i will be there watching fireworks up top when that time comes..

The St. Louis underground scene is rather huge. There was a rave at the Roberts Brothers Orpheum Theater. A great party. There will be one in August in a warehouse on North Broadway too.
