Again, you guys are thinking way too much of the brown streak. Last night some friends and I took the metrolink to the Blues game, 3 friends that really don't care about anything that we care about on these boards, and our conversation went off course for a second as we crossed the Eads bridge before dusk(I didn't say anything):

"What is that?"

"The new pinnacle casino"

"Wow! It looks really nice"

"It better be, they spent about 3 billion dollars on it"

Actually the Blue and dark brown are comonly used together colors. I should know as my fiance' and I are looking at remodeling the house and I see the color combo used often in the designer books.

I like the tower personally, so I don't understand what the big fuss is about?

Yea I like the blue and the dark brown combo. I think it will just be fine. If there was no fussing here then I don't think there would be as many postings. I mean geez its not even finished yet.

It is almost exactly like RBB's picture. The holes are a bit smaller than a dime, with translucent plastic lining the inside of the panel.

I don't doubt that, but from the ground it looks like a mesh covering the way it has bent around. I was simply making an observation about it's appearance, not what material it really is. The we'll find out comment was for the final look. The way I typed it doesn't necessarily make that come through, and for that I apologize, but you don't need to get so worked up about this. I was making a quick post.

Webcam has been down for two days now...maybe they took it down permanently? Has the comb-over been completed?

It goes down occasionally. I think it loses it's connection and someone has to fix it. I've noticed other oxblue cams will do that occasionally.

The webcam is up now. The colors look more brown and green (as opposed to blue) to me. I think it looks alright and am curious to see how the lighting effects will improve the night skyscape.

Arch City wrote:I just spoke to a male representative (Brian) of the Four Seasons Hotel. He stated that arc and comb-over will remain brown. He stated that hundreds of little lights are being placed in the arc and comb-over. He also stated that the lights will be white most of the time, which will illuminate at night (of course), however, there are talks that the color of the lights could be changed for special events or holidays like Christmas.

Nevertheless, the lights will be white most of the time, and arc and comb-over will remain brown during the daytime. :x

And you're sure he's not just yanking your chain? I still think there's a protective covering that will be removed at completion.

They are painting some of the visible concrete block in the garage the same brown shade as the "comb over".

I don't feel like searching through 65 pages of this thread so has anybody seen this rendering before?

Is this supposed to be after the other expansions/phases or when it's completed in December/January?

Since the webcam has been down for days now I thought I would post a comb over update. When I drove by this morning it looked like they had finished installing the last piece, although it was dark and also looked like there was space on each side of it.

Certainly looks like it includes a future phase.

I think that's all we'll be seing from the webcam... Some of the other projects webcams stoped before construction was completed.

As for the pic above, I remember reading how the fountains will mimic the arch, as can clearly be seen.

Drove by tonight around 11:45 and they were testing the lights in the streak, at least in the lower part of the east side. All i had with me was my crappy camera phone but i took pics of what i could see.

It was cycling through red, blue and green lighting, and it was an impressive glow. Even if they leave it brown during the day, you wont be able to see any brown at night when it's lit. The way it was cycling through the lights leads me to believe it will be able to handle any color they want it to display. It was a pretty exciting display to catch.

(edit: Went back out with the good camera. There are now some better shots at the link as well)

Good catch! That's a lot brighter than I would have expected, and the colors are pretty intense. It must be LEDs, as it's a lot more difficult to get such intense color from incandescent bulbs.

Very cool. Though totally superficial, I think something highly visual like this will go a long way towards making the suburbanites who only drive by on occasion take notice. It's easy for them to drive by and ignore everything that's happened downtown, but this is pretty hard to miss. Not to say there's no substance here, but some people would rather have shiny than substance. This building will definitely be shiny.

I think I mentioned it a long time ago but downtown Kansas City has some artistic color light/light displays. They do attract people.

This should be impressive! I am impressed already!

I hope that it will not blink up to the top like some neon thing, I would hop ethat it will be more modern with gradual change of illumination and "flowing" if that is the case... I have a feeling it will be that way knowing Pinnacle's professionalism.

I have to say it will be seen and it will light up the landing and north downtown's skyline nicely... in addition, it will add a new "liveliness" and color to the entire skyline. With this and the arch "glowing" - very nice.

OH, I may want to add, the tower (even with the brown on it now) during the day looks very nice (and modern) from the PSB and heading north on Memorial or 4th Street. Really stretching the skyline northward.

If the Rams every manage to start playing actual football and we can ever get a Sunday/Monday/Thursday night national game: this could look great for the "beauty" and blimp shots when coming in/out of commercial breaks.

Awww man I really do hope Pinnacle continues with a phase 2 after a few years, maybe something like TBD was supposed to be. This really is going to be a hallmark of the St. Louis skyline at night. I only wish there were more buildings connecting it to the core of the skyline. It seems so lonely out there to the far north.
