Wrong wrong wrong
That is 100% INcorrect. read on...

The Four Seasons is attached to the Lumiere complex but has a completely different entrance, etc...  Lumiere Place is the entire development.
The Casino's hotel is the 3 star Lumière Place Casino Hotel attached (NOT the Four Seasons). The Four Seasons and casino do NO booking partnerships at all, nor do their management's work together in anyway.  Four Seasons coordor in on the north end of the Lumiere complex far away from the casino and it's restaurants, hotel, etc...  the higher end Four Season shops and corridor of the complex is on the north end of the complex and the lobby is accessible on the upper floors by elevators only.   The tower is the Four Seasons Hotel and the hotel is completely owned and managed by Four Season Amex Hotels.   Most Four Season Hotels do not own their physical building properties and lease through management companies and many are part of developments.  So St. Louis' Four Season Hotel is a completely separate entity in the Lumiere Development since opening in 2008.  It is primarily a business hotel.

In 2021, Four Seasons St. Louis was one of the top among the top 10 percent of luxury hotels in the United States 2021  “Best Hotels” by U.S. News & World Report.  It is the only 5 Star Hotel in Missouri and consistently ranks among one of Four Seasons best urban hotel locations by profits and occupancy.

So, let's just set that record straight.  The hotel has an amazing reputation and will not be affected by the change of management at the Casino level.  Now let's hope Ceasars will upgrade their hotel Lumière Place Casino Hotel.  It needs some work.

https://press.fourseasons.com/stlouis/h ... -st-louis/

So Four Seasons St. Louis is a "stand alone" hotel just as much as many Four Season resort properties are.  It is NO way a "loss leader", a "casino hotel" or a place to "put up casino guest".  No No No.  Don't spew things you have no idea about here please.

Yeah I've only ever heard amazing things about the Four Seasons St. Louis.

It is in NO way a loss leader for the Casino.  I didn't know they were entirely separate entities however, always assumed Four Seasons was leasing space from Lumiere.  Thanks for the info @matguy70, good to know it's a full fledged Four Seasons.

I knew someone that worked at the Four Seasons and they said it was shocking how well the hotel did. It also helps it's towards the smaller end so it keeps costs down.

His claim was East Coast, West Coast and Pacific Rim parents visiting Wash U students were a strong draw.

I assume they also do pretty well booking the ballroom for weddings and private events.

I wonder when the lights the wrap around the  building will come back. They seem to have been broken for awhile now, and have been completely dark for a few months.

In its current state the hotel and it's surrounding parking lots acts as a wall to any activity moving north. This whole area needs a complete rework before anything major happens to the North.
  • Consolidate parking lots into one large mixed use garage at 1st and Morgan lot.
  • Build relatively inexpensive retail only or small mixed use in narrow lot to the west of the hotel. Could probably be built without interrupting the hotel service entrance
  • Narrow parking lot between 1st and Commercial needs to be brought back into the fold. The lot is always empty anyways. I would like to see construction here be somewhat varied mixed use with the rear addressing the future GRG park in some way. Maybe a Mississippi Nights revival sponsored by the Kranzbergs? A man can hope.
  • Would love if the Casino could carve out a couple street facing small retail spaces on 2nd St.
In terms of the North Riverfront at large, my theory is that the city just needs to get the ball rolling and things would catch fire pretty fast. The crappy Landing holds back the the North Riverfront, the crappy North Riverfront holds back the Landing, the crappy bottle district is held back by and holding back both areas. What the city can do, maybe with the Rams money:
  • Build out decent street and pedestrian infrastructure between Carr and Mullanphy. A huge undertaking yes, but NOTHING will happen in the areas current dreadful state. This includes street diets for Carr and Biddle.
  • Heavily incentivize cornerstone historic building renovations, namely the cluster of buildings near Ashley.
  • Heavily incentivize the historic cluster of buildings across the highway at O'Fallon and 6th. Getting these guys productive again (particularly with a strong neighborhood retail element) could be a cornerstone for not only the North Riverfront and Bottle District, but the walkable retail starved Columbus Square neighborhood as a whole.
With some strategic investments I would be shocked to see the area continue to stagnate. The North Riverfront is ripe for the picking. Great historic context, great location close to the Landing and Downtown, and plenty of cheap land prime for 5 over 2 apartments.

Edit: Also.... REMOVE THE HIGHWAY

Seems they're doubling-down on the highway with the Broadway bridge replacement.

Cinder House at the Four Seasons also was host a little over a week ago to one of the greatest viral videos ever:

Where would you tell a tourist staying at the Four Seasons to go in NSTL? Crown Candy maybe?

I can speak to this a bit....I used to be the concierge at the Ritz Carlton. I certainly never went out of my way to steer the clientele up into north city. Because they simply had no interest in it. There was no attraction for the demographic. That said, before I served that role, in other hotels in downtown St Louis I worked at..when people would ask me about things to do, places to eat, etc. I would try to probe their likes and dislikes and base it on that. I will say the average hotel staying crowd of the non-luxury market were a bit more curious and receptive to the idea of checking out north city a little. But again, it would circle back to Crown Candy Kitchen...Bissengers Factory tour..and that was about it.

I wish every visitor to St Louis were an intrepid urbx'er...but that's unfortunately just not anywhere close to reality. Most conversations started like this. "Hi there! So we were wondering where we can maybe find things to do...somewhere to eat...but that's like, you know...safe to walk around and with some variety". Until north St Louis becomes a destination unto itself or there is a real reason to go explore other than to just lay eyes on it, no hotel is going to recommend it to their visitors.
