The Art of Living building is a beautiful combination of historic and state-of-the-art contemporary design, which fosters creativity and excellence.
It's an "incubation facility" for new startup companies and tenants who cater to a new world thinking. It's a building that promotes collaboration with many "break-out" areas and all companies share services such as one main receptionist, phone lines, data/network lines, commercial grade conference rooms, a mezzanine area with awesome skyline views, two kitchens, a theater/training room, two fireplace areas, workout facility with locker room and shower, parking, and security.
You can lease small offices, large offices, or small cubicle like spaces.
I'll post some pics of the interior over the weekend. It is really really nice here.

This is from an e-mail I received today from Chivvis Development:
No doubt you will be at the wildly popular annual Taste of St. Louis event this weekend, Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 in Downtown St. Louis. While you are there, don't forget to visit the Chouteau's Landing booth in Gallery Row. The booth will unveil the ambitious masterplan for this emerging district and give you a chance to meet those working hard behind the scenes to make it possible. The seven-year project includes extensive streetscape, new construction and redevelopment and will transform forever the route from Busch Stadium to Soulard.

I wonder how many ambitious master plans have come and gone in this town without even stirring the dust? Well, add this one to the other thousands. I'm from MO, show me a backhoe and bulldoser starting the work instead of one more plan. I don't believe in vaporous x-year plans anymore.

Drive by it sometime - it's already started. The renovation of several buildings is underway.

Your 'MO' mindset is why nothing great ever gets done. If you don't shoot for the moon you'll never hit it. Enjoy your life of mediocrity.

^Da*n!!!
I agree with Jeff in principle . . . when do we know if a project will be build? When it's built. Let's not equate scepticism with pessimism. I'm optimistic that PBV, BD, Chouteau's Landing/Lake, MW Tower and a new MR bridge will be built, but I'm also skeptical as to whether we'll end up with what's been rendered in all the colorful drawings.

That was quite fluffy. Do you write this stuff for a living?
Not my work. That was taken out of the AOL playbook. You didn't see the rest, it gets way better, kind of Matrix-esque.
Here's more fluff stuff from the Chouteau Landing crew (from http://www.chouteauslanding.com):
Chouteau's Cho-down Saturday, October 21, 2006
3 to 9 pm @ 800 South Fourth Street Downtown between Gratiot Street and Chouteau Avenue
Stencil yourself in! Watch as seven commissioned national and local artists live-paint original murals along the entrance to Chouteau's Landing. The artists include: Cbabi Bayoc, Jimmy Dimarcellis (Porous Walker), Stefanie Kirkland, David Langley, William Lobdell, Justin Tolentino, Bryan Walsh and Peat Wollaeger.
A temporary gallery at 904 S. Fourth Street will feature additional for-sale work by these urban artists. A few of St. Louis' best bands and DJs will round off the event that opens the Chouteau's Landing District development to the public. For youngsters, a kids corner will also feature artsy activities from 3 to 6 pm.

If anyone is heading down to the game this afternoon or to the Taste of St. Louis, shoot a few pictures of the plan on display.

I went to the Rams game today. Afterwards I went to Taste of STL and grabbed the info packets they had there (which were the same as the renderings they had hanging). Here they are:JMedwick wrote:If anyone is heading down to the game this afternoon or to the Taste of St. Louis, shoot a few pictures of the plan on display.

At 15 acres, they really should call the 'lake' a pond. So much for the St. Louis Regatta!

seems to be the same renderings we've seen before - minus the high rise towers along the river .....
hey, has anyone checked out 4th street lately? The artists for that event yesterday did an amazing job. Drive by and check it out.

Cool - I really like the neighborhood-y appearance of the last four pictures.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting discouraged. They've been talking about this project for a while now - and nothing ever seems to happen. Ditto a dozen other projects around town. It just seems like we've stalled. Please someone - give me hope that this will actually happen. ..

Well, the Fourth Street portion is under construction right now, so there is room for optimism. Once it's done and the next phase begins, then we'll really be in business.

yeah you're right ... I do see them fixing up some of those buildings. But I want to see cranes damnit! and could someone please give me a bulldozer on one of the 50 supposed sites for the new downtown grocery? Amd whats up with the quasi psychodelic paintings on those fourth street buildings - are they opening a head shop?
