TGE-ATW wrote:Apparently the tagline these guys used was "misfits" and the cops have some other work that they are going to try to pin on them. I agree, making them clean up their own graffiti as well as that of others..........in July and August............in ST. Louis................with toothbrushes... is the way to go. We've been waiting a long time for this Urbanstlouis, hopefully they'll squeal on their buddies and payback will be a M-F'er.

"misfits" was not their tagline. Where did you hear that? The word "Misfits" was written on the backpack.

As for other work that the cops will try to pin on them, urbanstlouisans, do you have photos with graffiti that is similar looking to those shown on the fox segment? If you can post images then maybe we can help the cops by pin pointing locations where the taggers striked. Unfortunately only one tagger was visible to the Fox2 camera. The other coward hid his face between his legs!!!! hahahaha

hurray!!

Please. Someone post the screen shot of the graffiti/tagger while sitting in the car. Post the photo of the guy with his head in his legs!

The artists want everyone to see their art. Everyone here wants to see their face!

I am sure FOX 2 will eventually post the story and possibly video on the myfoxstl.com.

I thought I saw VAMP on the video they were showing this morning.

In that case I am sure it was probly the same VAMP we saw on the Roberts Orphium.

I would be awesome if it was the same two and they were made to pay for cleanup and restoration.

If it is the same culprits and I were the Roberts bros I would prosecute BIGTIME!!

The KSDK article gave the two artists' addresses. One lives on Hartford down by Tower Grove Park, the other way up in Hazelwood up by Sioux Passage Park.

Excerpt from KSDK Article:

Two men accused of vandalizing the new Tamm Avenue bridge in St. Louis' Dogtown neighborhood were charged with first-degree property damage, police said.

Passing motorists saw Ryan McLaughlin, 23, of the 10000 block of Driftwood Trails Drive, and Michael Schmitz, 28, of the 4000 block of Hartford Street, spray painting the bridge around 3:50 a.m. Thursday, police said. The bridge spans Interstate 64 (Highway 40) near Forest Park.

Riding metrolink into the city today, I was surprised to see that "ynot" hit an underpass in East St. Louis. Not that it was any important thing that he defaced, but I was surprised to see it on this side of the river. Plus, his skills seem to be improving from mere chicken scratches.

The Roberts Orpheum looks great now. After their original "home Depot" hack job cover up of Ed Boxx's pathetic handiwork, The Roberts' boys went back at the facade and really had it cleaned up right. You can't tell that Ed (stupid little b**** he is) ever hit the place now. Nicely done Robs.

If he's a tagger, then I don't have any love for him. Glad to see him move. He can vandalize another city.

I can appreciate it on the side of trains...but not buildings, bridges, etc. Who cares about trains as far as aesthetics go?

I'm surprised more people don't say they like graffiti, actually...because it's "gritty."

I dont mind graffiti on abandoned buildings and there is plenty of graffiti at the trainyards. Most big cities have a fair amount of graffiti, it's part of what makes a real city a real city. What I really like is murals, there are some pretty artistic ones on the northside. I dont know how many of you have seen them. I also dont like gang graffiti, which there is a lot of around the city.

Scroll back a few pages in this thread CarrieO to see what we were talking about on the side of the Orpheum. It was disgraceful.

I should have taken pics of the graffiti in Athens. The Plaka is the tourist neighborhood just below the Acropolis. Walking back to our hotel we decided to follow the border of the Acropolis instead of walking back to the main drag. The was some graffiti everywhere but as you got just a block or so north- I think- it was incredible how much graffiti was on everything. There were beautiful, seemingly otherwise well kept homes that were covered with graffiti. It was incredible and my girlfriend was scared to death.

I think she thought she was in Warriors.

TAGGERS = VANDALS

The Roberts Bros should have spent the money upfront in the first place to take care of the graffiti instead of waiting as long as they did after the terrible first attempt of just covering it up..

We also mentioned the similarities in the folks that were caught on hwy 40 and what was on the side of the Orpheum..

I HOPE that those punks were prosecuted, and Roberts Bros got some money out of them for the cleanup costs.

If I remember it was the highway dept that ended up cleaning the hwy 40 mess..

That's the problem -- much of the graffiti we see is not, at its essence, art. Rather it is territory-marking. I don't mind something done to please the neighborhood, but tagging territory is wrong. If it is private property, then it belongs to the owner, not the person who sneaks in and tags it. And if it is public property, then it belongs to all of us.
