Isn't it great that people's only viable option from Jeffco to the city is I-55? Yay America.

I missed that wreck by 15 minutes. Truckers are insane in that area. The trucker who caused the wreck is now in JeffCo lockup in Hillsboro for vehicular manslaughter. Guy from Louisiana who probably didn’t know about 55 construction and was probably asleep at the wheel. I’m betting he was hauling goods that could have been moved cheaper and faster by train. As someone who lives way south, most people haven’t given a thought about any sort of public transportation in that area. Yet it’s another sign of them crippling lack of ambition this region has.

A MetroLink line straight up I-55 would get heavily used.
I’d give up lanes to get a Metro from STL Downtown to Festus. Maybe the last part could be subway line to NGA. Would be a complete line. Sadly the lack of vision in the region is why it doesn’t happen. Metro should look into getting more IL money for grey line to SIUE. It makes too much sense to extend Metro Red to St. Charles and blue in a loop around the South Side back to downtown. State legislators would throw a fit.

Madison County opposes MetroLink, they aren't even in Metro's transit district, see Madison County Transit.

Reporting 4 are now deceased. I was driving north on 170 around 1:45 pm when traffic came to almost a stand still at the Rock Rd. How very sad & tragic there’s been a lot of wild & horrifying incidents recently.

Imagine how much transit we could get if propaganda was shoving the daily auto deaths down the public's throats stoking fear about cars like they do about the "crime filled city" despite 90% of the crime being isolated or the "dangerous MetroLink" despute MetroLink having a lower crime rate than St. Charles. Car crashes are the opposite of crime, they are completely random and not isolated.

Wow and they're just going to tear it down straightaway without a clear replacement plan? Huge difference in how pedestrian vs car infrastructure is treated. That'll significantly worsen forest park's connectivity w the central west end. Can this crazy driver's insurance cover it?

It's been just a week and you're angry there's not a plan delivered?
Plus wasn't the NE corner of the park next on the list of improvements after Steinberg is done?

Yeah dweebe because if it were a bridge for cars there'd be no question it'd be rebuilt there'd be no need for a study about it.

Unfortunate closure but isn't the end of the world, the alternate bridge is only 400 yards away. It's also not like it's the accessible route either, there's dozens of steps involved to take the closed route. I actually hope they broaden the reconstruction scope a bit to infill the narrow path between the two ped bridges so it's all at the same level with railings, the steep slopes and level changes are somewhat dangerous. The non-standard stairs to the east of the Metrolink bridge are also a hazard with the odd tread depths and no handrail. Repaint/refresh the historic ped bridge over the tracks while they're at it.

I missed anything that says they aren't going to replace the pedestrian bridge.
Could you please show me a collapsed car bridge that was recently redone without studies?
