^ Wow, what a difference some cleaning makes.  This building is going to be a gem when it's finished and with new windows.

Really cool that they're starting with the exterior. Will make that area seem a lot cleaner while they complete the interior.

I remember them cleaning the exterior of the Ely Walker to prep for rehab and conversion while I was living in the Annex.  Made a world of difference.  Now I wish I was still there and could walk down to the London Tea Room for a coffee and a delicious breakfast sandwich, or an Americano at Gelataria, or to shoot the sh*t at the Washington Avenue Post or a delicious crepe at Crepes in the City, or...   Damn it.

Fortunately you can still grab a hell of an Americano at Catalyst a couple blocks southeast, crepes at Rooster, and ice cream from several places :)

Curious where they removed the brick for the construction/demo elevators do they replace the original brick?

Crepes in the City was amazing, so sad to see them go.
I think Wash Ave needs a neighborhood pub like Sidebar and Flannery's were circa 2010-2015.

Hair of the Dog on Washington and Jack Patricks off Washington are my neighborhood bars.

Forgot about JP's.  When I lived on Washington I went there every so often.  HotD was a second home.  Don, Rick and the gang were always a good chat and great place to watch the Blues.

How bout that Butler brothers building though?  Gonna be a sight once its all scrubbed pink.

Yeah they'll salvage it and reinstall it once the elevators inside are functional and the exterior buck hoist isn't required any more. That what was done on 634 N Grand from my experience. Historic projects are careful with everything that's done, especially with the exterior.

Yes it's lame but this is St Louis so everyone will call it Butler Brothers regardless!

What's our vector, Victor?  I'm sick of all the contrived nouveau renaming of historic buildings- yawn.  Especially the renaming of The Ellsworth to "The Raphael" at West Pine & Newstead.  Don't fix it if it ain't broken. Dumb.

They could name it “Ligma” for all I care, I’m just happy it’s being redeveloped and not abandoned or knocked down.

If copywriting is an issue, I assume "But' Bros" is still fair game? Triple B for short?

Since everything in the vicinity is jumping on the soccer bandwagon, maybe Victor is a nod to the winning team

I do like coming up with names for building even if i total agree it kind of a silly superficial exercise.  If you are going with a soccer tie in, I would have gone with something a little more subdued and a little more European.

Something like...
"The Bello Partido"

Of course, excessive soccer tie in can get a little tiresome too but it's certainly lighting a fire in that part of town at the moment.
