Looks like the guy was just playing around the with original renderings for BPV.
WTH???? YES PLEASE! Imagine something different and interesting in STL...If only buidling the BPV were as easy as coming up with a fancy rendering....We need more thinking "out of the box".... This city was founded by cutting edge thinkers.... we should be required to match that historic "cutting edge" with our contemporary architecture...

I thought it was one of Kevin McGowan's daydreams on paper.
Well hell, lets just hire Calatrava then. Maybe it's time we forum members take the BPV into our own hands. I can pitch in about 100 bucks. Maybe Santiago has a warm place in his heart for STL and will give us the homie hookup....Not that "out of the box". He just stole a Calatrava design.

He's my favorite architect. I wish we could have hired him to design the multi-modal transportation center.
maybe it is just me, but these twisting boxes are a little cliche now. Everywhere you look, there is another design concept that simply rotates floor plates. I think there are many ways that architecture can be used to bring something truly distinctive to the Ballpark Village. However, it is a radical rethinking of boxy, boring, conservative downtown STL architectural tradition.

Did people forget we are talking about Centene? Its not like we are talking about SC Johnson Wax, or Sears or heck even a local bank. Centene needs a box. They deal with large government contracts, not consumers. They don't need to make a statement. I am pretty happy with the 32 floor curved design, if that is what it is. As for the rest of the tall buildings in BPV, if any, they are likely to be condo towers so don't hold your breath on the design. They are probably going to be pretty functional in nature with many balcony overhangs, especially on the south side.
If we are going to get a new, really artsy looking downtown tower anytime soon it is going to take either a large company wanting to make a statement (do we have any of those?) or a developer that is looking to sell space by creating a buzz. The MW Tower would have fell in this second category, but we see how well that turned out.
Maybe in a few years. Now, I am just happy with the addition to the skyline.

Gimmicky architecture does nothing for me. Give me a classic, tasteful, well-executed design any day. Sure, pushing the envelope a bit would be nice, but let's not get carried away.

This is way more than twisting boxes though isn't it... the curvature seems to match an arch leg, and it's triangular, I love it. Scoot it east some or twist it so we'll still be able to see the old courthouse from behind home plate and down the first base line and I'd be elated.
I was looking at the Centene rendering. The floor heights look really tall. I think that will help to make up for the lack of actual floors. Should bring some good balance along with the rest of BPV.
FWIW, I've heard rumors that Centene will scrap there IT department and outsource all of it to Accenture. Has anyone else heard this?

They'll regret it: Accenture is a bunch of raving morons. Most of their employees are fresh out of college and are more worried about getting drunk and farking each other. I've never been impressed with their work. Plus they always try and pass the buck when things go wrong.

I'm 25 years out of college, and I'm still more interested in those things.

Do we need an IT background to apply? Drinking, farking, and passing the buck when things go wrong?
Sounds like my kind of place.

I really wished we would have something that would have really stood out like the pic I found. However, I will take the current renderings over The Ballpark Crater.
When is something going to happen already? We've waited two years and still NOTHING.
Eh, management resources are constrained while they look for steroids that won't be detected and stock up on clubhouse vodka from Dirt Cheap. I don't see why LaRussa is still coaching. He earned a DUI in spring training, setting the tone for one of his players to off himself a month later while DUI. Additionally, the Mitchell steroid report was a joke. He's a baseball-insider, Director of the Red Sox and friend of Bill Selig. MLB is starting to sicken me. The Ballpark Village swamp is diseased just like the rest of MLB is.STLgasm wrote:When is something going to happen already? We've waited two years and still NOTHING.

^calm down, dude...it's not life or death.
I'm calm, but baseball has lost its integrity. This ain't good for the Cardinals and St. Louis.
Did baseball ever really have any integrity? Not like this stuff just came up last year...
But let's not get off topic.

Wow! nothing close to my take on the subject. You are in the minority with your opinions. This is bad for st. louis or the cardinals.
