PROVE IT!

So what is Phase I now? A team store run out of a trailer? Oooh, no, I know! A parking lot.

By the All-Star break in 2009, they expect to have asphalt covering the entire Busch Stadium II site. They'll get it done, trust me. You silly doubters.

Okay, okay, I believe Lamping. They'll turn a doublewide into Cabo Wabo and park it on the SW corner of that vast and shiny new parking lot by the All-Star Game in 2009. Think of it as an overflow destination for the beautiful people whenever Hrabosky's Tool Shed is too crowded.

^ I can't help it. Despite the civic boost we all enjoyed when the Cardinals won the 2006 World Series, I've been a bit cynical about the Cardinals ever since one of the pillocks on their payroll insisted that "We Like To Party" by the Vengaboys* was an appropriate theme song for the 2006 playoffs.

*- I had to look that one up on Wikipedia. It might be one of the worst songs ever created.

I cannot tell a lie, even if I have a few items that are almost as embarrassing in my music collection.

While the design for Centene's HQ isn't earth shattering I am a big fan of it because it has a different shape than all of the other 4-corner buildings downtown. I like the use of semi-circles, etc.

Good stuff.

Yea the design doesn't have the wow factor. The good thing about the design it doesn't have the barf factor like the one for Clayton. I like it much better and I have no problem with its addition to downtown.

I agree. If this turns out to be the project's design, I think it is a great departure from downtown's "boxy" buildings.

I think it needs to be taller, I'm thinking 40- 50 floor range. But overall, I think it looks decent enough. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but it looks good. I'm more worried about how the parking garage building will look.

Taller would be great too. It would definitely add mass and height to the southside of downtown, but you know St. Louis. With the renaissance under way downtown, hopefully, the city will get a 7 or 8 hundred footer in the very near future.

The reflection will be sweet as it passes through individual columns of glass /or if the glass is arced it would be a really fat arch (not just phat).

I think the building looks great. Looks like about 32 floors, which will really help balance the skyline; something I've been hoping for for a long time. The condo tower behind it looks great too.

BTW, the new Town Planner 2008 calandar has a great cover shot which looks over the top of the Arch towards downtown, and really lets you envision how Ballpark Village will fill-in the southern portion of DT.

I did a Google Image Search on Ballpark Village. I ran across this and I would like to have seen this.

Dude must have some connection to St. Louis. There are renderings of Creve Couer, Busch's Grove, and something called "Stowe College", which I suppose might be Harris-Stowe. Interesting.

Was that picture from the RFT's "hoax" article from a few years back?
