I went to a number of games when I lived in Manhattan and when the Cards were there, that was the most opponent fans I ever saw! Entire sections of red...it was nice to see!

YES! Gourmet is my favorite restaurant, and I love to shop at Urban Attic!

The last rendering clearly shows that the three high-rises will be shorter than Met Square, yet taller than any of their existing neighbors. I'd guess about 30 stories. With two of the towers facing the River, this will be a great addition to the southern portion of the skyline. I can't wait.

I wish there were a direct walk through north to south through this super block AND I wish they would stop calling it six city blocks - not quite.

I think they are also opening a Gourmet in Clayton and Chesterfield. I ate at the one in Manhatten when I was there. Good stuff!

You mean other than the two that are already there?

There are 6 blocks there. What else should they call it?

No one will go there if it's that crowded! (thanks Yogi)

I really don't like the plaza in the rendering - why not make this usable space instead of creating a small 'park'?! I think it's terrible. If that's a movie screen in the background, where are people supposed to sit and watch? And why doesn't someone figure out how to make a plaza inviting?! Maybe some shade - maybe a way to walk through it that isn't blocked by an odd sculpture/water feature . . . just sayin'.

Me neither. Looks just like a mini-Kiener Plaza, doesn't it? A bunch of paths cutting through passive green space to a pointless fountain in the center.

I like it.

And from what I understand, Urban Attic demands plazas in all their lease agreements.

Oh come on - you're just being a contrarian! And I really hope you're kidding about "Urban Attic" - the irony is killing me!!

And I would never joke about Urban Attic.

I think it's actually three blocks all divided in half in an east-west path that never would be there. I think there was a Sesame Street that teaches you that when you cut a cookie in half, it's not two cookies.

I think there is also a Sesame Street that teaches you the definition of a "block". There are 6 blocks here.

Did I just hear that the General Contractor Clayco has pulled out of this project citing the lack of progress as the reason? BPV will announce a new GC sometime next month.

I must have missed that one. But the city has standardized blocks. I do know that when the city sold that land it was three blocks. They divided it in a weird pattern of paths that includes 7 free standing structure over what was once three standard city blocks. In the same way, Busch stadium takes up six city blocks. It is misleading at best.

I can't wait. I have been dreaming of the day when I would be able to go to the baseball game, and then buy some dishes on the way home. Ooooh, maybe curtains too. Gee, I never thought of that. But, what color? Oh dear. Bronzeberry Frost would go so well with my couch, but Champagne will really lighten up the room.

Well, there are "city blocks," used officially in city records as part of a parcel of property's legal description. Then there are the basic "blocks," what every normal human being thinks of when he or she hears that word. So which ones are we talking about here?

Please don't tell me they need to find a new GC.

More renderings are always fun.

But I also don't really like the set up of the roads. I'd like a bit of a more intact grid. As it is, walking towards the ball park from the north, you'll see a wall, and have to weave, when I'd rather they maintain some of the vistas from 7th, etc.

Exactly, but when they mention how many blocks it is, it usually is in reference to the amount of land they have. In this case I think that standardized blocks would be the most useful way of evoking this description. This is why I think that it is a little bit of a misdirection on the part of the Ballpark Village people. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, but when Central asks, in his usual practicality, "six blocks, what else would they call it," I think that the standardized city block is a fair answer.

Nope, BPV. KMOX reported it, attributing it to the BJ. Clayco pulled out because the project "appeared stalled."
