Hi all.

I've looked at this website for a while with Chris and am a friend of his. A few things about his outburst the other night and subsequent actions.
  1. I was with him when he was writing those posts. He originally wanted to post some things that would've classified his posts as "doxing". I told him not to do that as it wasn't his character or place to do that. He instead went with the path we all know he chose.
  2. We argued over the posts afterwards and he deactivated his account because he couldn't figure out how to delete it. I told him it wasn't wise to delete it since it wasn't clear if the pictures and posts he made over the past several years would disappear or not. This website can act as an archive for those things.
  3. At my request, he did send the comments of issues at the Hudson over to the correct people at Lux with the hope of having those issues fixed by management. He hasn't informed me of an update but did hint that he expects property rollouts to go differently in the future. Chris retains his connections there as he does with multiple other developers and architects in St. Louis, Kansas City and Memphis.
  4. Chris will continue to play a role in certain projects throughout the St. Louis and Kansas City metros, just his involvement will be secretive.
  5. Chris informed me that he has read over this thread since the other night. He's not angry at the different positions made by users on this forum anymore but he is not planning to return anytime soon. He feels that the damage done is enough to keep him away from here for a while. Besides, he's in the process of transferring colleges and moving away due to a better educational opportunity outside of St. Louis. As some can imagine, a move like that can be stressful especially when you're balancing full-time college coursework and two jobs.
  6. Lastly, he will continue to maintain his Facebook group and blog and hopes to interact with a few users from this forum in the future.
We'll see how things go. For now, he's not showing any remorse from his actions but it's really hard to tell how Chris feels sometimes. He's a king at hiding his emotions but when they come out, they come out swinging (mostly anger and frustration). Emotions like joy, sadness, disgust, and being anxious are clearer.

Anyways, my name is Mark and I've known Chris since grade school. We're close and see each other as brothers. I have looked into living at a Lux/STLCitywide property before but have stayed away from them. Not because of the management issues, but because they weren't convenient enough for my liking. I call a small apartment in South City home and have a Husky named Comet. I look forward to participating in this forum as some good discussions are had often.
You guys have a lot of growing up to do.

The Delmar/DeBaliviere building was designed by Isadore Shank; one of St. Louis' most important (if little known) Mid-Century architects. It's in bad shape, but it should certainly be under some kind of protection.

(not sure why this rendering says Harris Armstrong, but it was definitely by Shank)

I did some volunteer work in that building back in the early 2000's. The detailing is unbelievable. Every inch of that facade has in interesting texture or pattern.

Rehab of the building is planned if not already underway.

There's some air vents near the sidewalk on the north and east sides of the building that are way too loud. Super annoying.
I'm happy to report they were quieter today. I hope it stays that way.

I’ve noticed that too. I think they adjusted them (maybe they needed them cranked up for some reason for a couple weeks early on).

There's some small permit activity. Looks like Bi-State put an office in there.

Good to hear. The storefront facing DeBaliviere is looking rough these days.

Yes Denis, now this is Chris, but Mark is a real person and this is his personal account.

Occasionally, he’ll post on behalf of me about project updates that I think are significant enough to be posted on here through this account. I’ll dictate what needs to be said, and he’ll post it but only after reviewing what I say. He’ll act as a filter for things I say. Mark is also the operator of my CityScene blog and CityScene social media accounts. He filters what I post there already and has done a good job keeping the slant out of it.

My own personal account is dead as far as I’m concerned. Keeping it dead allows me to not lash out at some people while also keep my mouth shut about some projects in the works (especially those I'm working on or am involved in).

So everyone, Mark isn’t here to be a troll or anything and he certainly won’t lash out like I did. Mark’s a good guy with a lot of patience and I’m happy to know him. He’s on here to be himself and discuss what’s up. Let it be.

Chris or Mark or Chris and Mark, or anyone else for that matter, you shouldn't post from another member's account and shouldn't allow others to post from your account.

Kinda reminds me of the whole "Oh hey, I discovered that One Hundred Above the Park has a new twitter account" only for it to quickly be revealed as not run by Lux but created by Chris (or supposedly a relative of his without his knowledge?).  There's simply no need to have alternate accounts or have a "friend" (if it is indeed a real person) create one to post on your behalf.

This is UrbanSTL - a forum where realistically just a core group of a few dozen nerds (myself absolutely included here) all generally agree on like 90% of what should be, and even the disagreements are based around different, nuanced variations on what we think would be best for St. Louis (i.e., some ideas are awesome, but just may not be realistic and that conversation can eat up 5 whole pages in the span of two days). It's definitely not like the comment section in the Post Dispatch or some Facebook group where people just go crazy trying to troll and roast each other. Shenanigans like this just add an unnecessary layer or drama and, at least in my opinion, make people trust each other less.  Can we just get back to debating if the Twain Sculpture should be launched into outer space vs. made into a UNESCO historical site like we inevitably will do again in a week or two?

1) I'm uploading the current Google Reviews of The Hudson here for archiving since they allegedly delete negative reviews.

2)  @jayarebee, as a renter you have rights. Most notably, a right to organize: https://www.forestparksoutheast.com/st- ... g-toolkit/.  You should consider a building-based tenants union and reaching out to Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (314-534-4200) for some guidance.

3) As mentioned above, if/as Lux & co. are playing such an increasingly important role in our community, and if similar concerns extend across other developers in our City, it's past time to consider a citywide tenant union, similar to KC Tenants: https://kctenants.org/about
February 11 update. All five February 5th Google Reviews removed and three new reviews up.

I won't get deep into the two 5-star reviews that were left, but they read contradictory of themselves, and interject dismissive remarks about other tenants' experiences – you won't find tenants doing that on, say, Chroma reviews...

^Well, yes, now that you mention it. Wouldn't call myself an expert, and I'm not sure what that has to do with DeBaliviere, but I've seen some shows, taken some classes, and even played some overtures and arias. Did someone say tenors by mistake or something? Love the meme though.

Who cares about people outside the building? It’s all about the amenities inside don’t you know? 😒
