I could go through this thread and point out all the conflicting messages



you have posted concerning forum response times and performance



and the times you have placed blame on unnamed parties and have



deflected complaints from yourself, not much of an admin in my opinion



oh and by the way you forgot to label Shin as a "whiner"



seems to be many others who are whiners in your book



to me it is a legitimate concern,, doesnt seem very important to you based



on your comments :roll:

You've got to understand that no one here enjoys the inconvenience any more than you do. You also need to remember that the administration and moderating staff of this forum have full-time jobs, responsibilities, and lives outside of this forum. I can assure you that Matt has done all he can to address the situation, and the situation is a bit complicated since he is not the owner of this website.

You don't have to believe me, but you are the same one that didn't believe me when I said action was being taken regarding the San Luis while there was a case in court. This process is not as neat and tidy as you or I would like. Not to mention the fact that I was recently finishing up a Masters degree that involved a whole lot of writing and research and I have been in and out of town. It will hopefully get fixed soon, but I will make no promises.



Do you think I like a website that doesn't work when it doesn't feel like it? As I said before, no, I do not. You act like this is my job. Unfortunately, it is not. It takes more time than you would imagine, but I don't get paid for that.

The girl fight on page 9 of this thread is ridiculous. This site has more than enough following to now a)revamp/move servers b)begin selling advertising



And before everyone attacks me for proposing advertising (which probably has been recommended before) lets all think about the value proposition here:



Begin advertising businesses/events exclusively in St Louis proper; create more online buzz about the city; attract more residents; attract more business; improve the city; make money and improve the speed of this server.



Oh, and all of the bloggers on other sites could contribute articles/reviews/thoughts what have you. Perhaps add a sports column. Perhaps add a map function. This forum has the ingredient to that so many advertising based online businesses yearn for - a large following (of people that regularly contribute pertinent urban information about St. Louis City, or at least read the information posted by other individuals). Instead of providing a search engine, or wedding vendor information, Urban Stl provides from-the-street info on virtually EVERY important/interesting/accessible topic related to St. Louis City.



From the ground up, organic news/goings-on in St. Louis. The Anti-Stl Today, if you will.



I'm sure one of you guys has the stats on membership and viewership for this awesome site.



Think People. I would happily contribute seed money and selling expertise for such a venture, and we could all a have hand in helping to rebuild St. Louis.

The forum will officially be moving. It is set up to move now, just need to arrange the time between the two of us. We will also be upgrading to phpbb 3.0 in the process which will add some new features.



Advertising has been kicked around before privately. It seems like a logical idea, not to make money for anyone, but to cover the costs of the forum. The idea when it was discussed was that it would be for St. Louis advertising only, like ttricamo stated.

But in all honesty (and I know there would be protests), wouldn't this be a good time to clean up the forum. OR - allow posters to tag a post as "news" or "comment" - THAT would be fantastic... I'm sure it's not so simple, but imagine having the the little book thingy light up orange for a new comment and blue for news or whatever.
