The stupid proposed move to the clogged area by Reagan National is now totally dead as they start work on a $1 billion renovation in Washington DC.

Work started in 2024 on refreshed interiors. This is just the next phase of work.

I think you're getting confused with the Charlotte Hornets who just finished refreshing their concourses.

I was in DC last summer and walked past the arena a few times. There didn't appear to be anything new in there from the sidewalk.

I think you're getting confused with the Charlotte Hornets who just finished refreshing their concourses.

I was in DC last summer and walked past the arena a few times. There didn't appear to be anything new in there from the sidewalk.

Construction begins in December 2024 and will occur in six phases over three years. The Arena is scheduled to be complete in time for the 2027-28 NBA and NHL seasons.

Phase 1 (now – the conclusion of the 2024-25 season): Preparatory work begins with structural enabling tasks such as escalator pit installations and hydrotherapy slab construction. Fans will notice minimal disruptions as foundational work is largely behind the scenes.

Phase 2 (summer 2025): The enhancement of athlete spaces, including new locker rooms, a family lounge, and new media facilities. Additional upgrades include new escalators and initial modifications to fan seating areas. Premium fan experiences including the United Globe Club and Lounge and the Vaults will also be completed during this phase and available to fans in the 2025-26 season.

Phase 3 (during the 2025-26 season): Preparatory work begins for extensive exterior upgrades to include the new entrance on F Street, adding new restrooms, and improving concession spaces.

Phase 4 (summer 2026): Major exterior updates will begin, including the new façade and enhancements to the Gallery Place atrium. Interior renovations continue with revamped concession stands and upgraded suites.

Phase 5 (during the 2026-27 season): Club-level upgrades and further interior remodeling will be completed, including enhanced corridors and additional seating modifications. Fans can expect more premium amenities and improved navigation throughout the arena.

Phase 6 (summer 2027): With most major elements in place, construction addresses final interior improvements, including concessions, loge boxes, and bathrooms. The Gallery Place atrium will also be completed.

The fact that KC, which is 20% smaller than StL and has a laughable corporate HQ presence compared to StL, is being considered a more likely landing spot for an NBA franchise than StL is evidence of just how badly our regional leaders have screwed us for decades. What a joke.

That argument applies to Nashville or Austin or Raleigh or until recently Charlotte. All of the hot cities are smaller or used to be smaller and are landing the brands and teams and hotels and events that STL in theory should be competitive for.

Regarding your NBA KC comment. The difference is like a 0.25% vs a 0.50% chance of landing a team. Meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Neither city is that competitive.

I disagree that St Louis could not be competitive. If Dave Steward wanted to bring a team to StL and civic leadership was ready to build the team an arena, StL would be the next city to get a team.

Target Center was opened in 1990. It's had 3 decent renovations and I guess needs a bigger 4th one. The last renovation was done before COVID and rewrapped the exterior.

Seems impossible to turn off the public tap at this point. That goes for any sports venue anywhere. The bubble's gotta burst some time.
