I can’t find any evidence of this being a rule. Where both the NBA/NHL overlap regionally, 11 NBA arenas share with NHL and 4 have NBA and NHL specific arenas. Both Las Vegas and Seattle are expected to share arenas when the league expands.

NBA the league has to approve any relocations. I can 100% guarantee that they are not going to approve a move to an arena that isn’t first class or on the pathway to getting there.

Obviously they have to approve it and my initial post conceded a $300-500M renovation as realistic. NBA is requesting $600M for the arena in Portland which is more outdated than Enterprise.

Again, no written evidence of that. They do require a relocation market present a clearly superior long-term situation than the incumbent market which can be accomplished through varying degrees of facility control, real estate offerings, and revenue agreements. Both something the Blues would also enjoy renegotiating.

This is kinda how I see it. I feel like Enterprise could be acceptable for a temporary stay, but I can't see a relocation happening without guarantees for a new arena.

Complete speculation on my part but is anyone concerned the Blues may look at Downtown chesterfield for a new arena in the near future? It would fit the trend for new NHL arenas (Atlanta and Dallas)

St. Louis getting an NBA team: 1%
St. Louis building a new arena just for NBA: 0.1%
Blues moving out of Downtown: 0.0001%

However, they have a better chance than we do. Simmons also acknowledges STL elsewhere in the pod, says he can't see a team here, and apologizes to us. He was also certain that LeBron was going to Cleveland and expansion was going to happen next year, so take his bluster with a grain of salt. Good content guy but he's not as in the know as he lets on IMO.

That said I've held off on posting in this thread, but its very quixotic right now. The Chaifetz's are pumping money into SLU hoops and at this stage I'd be thrilled if they could establish an even better product and keep Schertz here (again, probably quixotic lol)

She was on a podcast last week saying that she was supportive and believed the Blues and City have a great relationship to support it. She said her dream scenario has always been having two teams in Enterprise. It was relevant to the conversation in 2020 because she was the most vocal opponent on the BOA of the Blues Enterprise renovations in 2018/2019.

Paric has Enterprise at 600,000 square feet. Mortenson has T-Mobile at 693,000 square feet.

T-Mobile can hold around 19,000 for basketball compared to Enterprise at around 22,000 for basketball.

I did find some references that T-Mobile Center has an additional section (suites or premium seating?) that was left to be completed if a pro-team ever arrived. Unclear if their 675,000 square feet is inclusive of that unbuilt space or not.

The new OKC Thunder arena is pegged in the 750k range up from 581,000 today. I’m seeing 730,000 for Fiserv Form in Milwaukee and 675,000 for Golden 1 in Sacramento. Gainbridge in Indianapolis was recently renovated up to 750,000 and Cleveland’s renovated to 823,000.
