FEMA chief steps down as Trump administration prepared to oust him

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/11/17/poli ... steps-down

“Richardson, a loyalist to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, was tapped to lead FEMA even though he lacked experience in disaster management.”

“The two words I’d use to describe him are unprofessional and overwhelmed.”

——————

Painful to imagine what the tornado recovery would’ve looked like had Kamala Harris been President. Unfortunately, decimating FEMA without a backup plan doesn’t even rank in this administrations failures. At least that one trans athlete isn’t allowed to go to the Olympics anymore so it’s all worth it.

This is what you get when you vote trash to lead our country. Everything’s worse by 5 miles. This administration is full of scandals & corruptions & these people proudly say this is what they voted for🫤🤥

Turns out the Golden Age of MAGA was an Epstein cover-up, 600,000 Chinese students, H1-B jobs for Indians, massive deficits, pardons for fraudsters & drug traffickers, blowing up boats, 50 year mortgages, tariffs on everything, higher prices, a ballroom, & al-Qaeda in the Oval.

There has been literally little to no progress made in any of the buildings in DeBaliviere following May 16 Tornado. Is there anything that can be done to expedite insurance claims process? There are lot of owners who are in similar situation...

Who can I contact to report or raise awareness of our ordeal?

Don’t forget Trump’s proxy war against Russia that he’s about to take a massive L on. The “peace president” has succumbed to his Neocon donors and become the “war president.” Should there be an age limit on presidents. Because Trump’s showing signs of decline just like Sleepy Joe.

Spencer… “Building commissioner Ed Ware told me we’re now averaging below 48 hours to issue repair permits in the neighborhoods hit by tornado.”

“Early next year, you’ll finally be able to apply for a building permit online instead of having to come down to City Hall”

it does not help tornado victims unless they can expedite insurance claims.

There's so few people applying for permits (see also the insurance claim issues) that this isn't the win they portray. But also, I've been walking this area a lot and there's no permits for most of the properties I see being worked on. In past tornadoes, permits have been a hugely helpful way for me to research affected properties. Here, we still don't have recorded records of properties yellow/orange/red tagged, any real updates to GeoSTL on anything but demo permits and a few renovation permits, and there's just a sea of undocumented work occurring.

It might be bad karma for me (an insurance adjuster, but NOT for property) to post this, but here's the link to file a complaint with the state DOI. https://insurance.mo.gov/consumer-compl ... complaints

Stl PR - WashU study found gaps in St. Louis’ emergency preparedness ahead of tornado, calls for change
Among its findings, the report said fragmented coordination across the cities’ and surrounding counties' jurisdictions led to confusion and inefficiency during emergencies. Outdated and inaccessible emergency plans, insufficient inclusion of vulnerable populations and underutilization of grassroots efforts were other gaps identified in the report.

Saw a tiktok today of some video of a traveller going to Kensington Ave noting how dilapidated it was and all the comments noting crime and abandoned and Dems, etc. No awareness that a tornado swept through there. It’s pretty obvious that the houses had storm damage, just frustrating people are so unaware and ignorant. Also a travesty how little national attention a tornado sweeping through urban neighborhoods like that got.

Who would have thought that appointing the guy who ran Arch Grants who had no disaster recovery experience was a bad idea.

As a condo owner I feel defeated. Our repairs will not be complete until late July and the snow storm is going to wreak havoc on our temporary roofing. Insurance adjuster and carriers are having fun with us.

Have you filed a complaint with the Missouri Department of Insurance? Our contractor recommended this when we were getting jerked around. My understanding is that if enough people complain about a single company then that company can face some pretty heavy fines, so they take it seriously. We didn't have to file the complaint in the end, but it might be worth a try if you're looking for options.

there are 5 carriers involved and the insurance broker is not willing to disclose the carriers' names. i am assuming i need their names to file complaint?

Here is a link to the site:

https://insurance.mo.gov/consumer-compl ... complaints

First file a complaint against the broker for not being willing to disclose the names. Then you will be able to name specific companies in additional complaints.

I am not an expert and I have no idea if this will work or not, but I know if I were in your position I would file immediately and just see where it goes. It's free to do and the worst that can happen is they say "no".

Wild you don't know the names of your insurance company? Doesn't your policy say? Your mortgage lender would want to know too.
