That's not urban!
-Sporting KC Fan
An estimated $3.5 billion in developments have been proposed, planned or are currently under construction in the 2.91 square miles that encompass Downtown St. Louis, with some announced after CityPark was announced.
The Butler Brothers Building, which can be seen from within the stadium, is undergoing a $130 million redevelopment, turning the historic warehouse into a mixed-use complex with 384 apartments. Plans are also formulating for the world’s tallest mass timber building to be built just north of the stadium. A new North-South MetroLink Line will run past CityPark as well.

I think there's expansion potential for 2,500 more seats. I'm not entirely sure where they would squeeze them in, either.
I was thinking something more dramatic, like a vertical expansion adding another deck. Just raise those pillars and lift the roof up another thirty feet or so. Not terribly realistic, but . . . they need more seats. Or props, really, since no one ever seems to sit.
The thing is I think it's too early to be talking about ripping the roof off the place and adding seats for what might be abnormal demand. We have a perfect storm of new stadium + new team + winning that's driving the tough prices. When you look at the soccer specific stadiums in the MLS, Citypark is not abnormally small.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑May 25, 2023I was thinking something more dramatic, like a vertical expansion adding another deck. Oh, I understand it's too early to honestly make that decision, but I'm daydreaming. And I'm hoping that this won't prove to be too terribly anomalous. It might be . . . but I honestly suspect it isn't. Okay, they won't always break records the way the start of the season did, but previous soccer teams have always been fan favorites and I think this one might just take the cake. The thing has legs. (And it uses them well. All of them.)dweebe wrote: ↑May 25, 2023The thing is I think it's too early to be talking about ripping the roof off the place and adding seats for what might be abnormal demand. My concern about a panicked expansion of CITYPARK is that we'd end up in a situation like the United Center in Chicago or FedEx Field in DC where the venue was overbuilt at a time of extreme demand.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑May 26, 2023Oh, I understand it's too early to honestly make that decision, but I'm daydreaming. They do. The problem with the UC isn't empty seats but that the building is so damn big.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑May 26, 2023didnt the Bulls and Blackhawks sale out every game ever at UC until like this past yeardweebe wrote: ↑May 26, 2023My concern about a panicked expansion of CITYPARK is that we'd end up in a situation like the United Center in Chicago or FedEx Field in DC where the venue was overbuilt at a time of extreme demand.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑May 26, 2023Oh, I understand it's too early to honestly make that decision, but I'm daydreaming. Enterprise Center is lower bowl > suites > upper bowl > sky boxes,
United Center is lower bowl > suites > middle bowl > suites again > upper bowl > sky boxes. Sitting high up in that arena is so much worse.
Yep, I actually sold my CITY tickets and bought CITY2 tickets instead!STLEnginerd wrote: ↑May 26, 2023If you want cheap seats though, go see City2 for $10 and have great seats to boot.
