Schools are just getting out so hopefully out-of-towners and even some locals should help. That should be starting this week and picking up next week.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jun 07, 2022Talked to a food hall vendor who said biz is still good but not great.
This is gonna be some lean time until the Alamo Drafthouse and other attractions open. Then the residential should pump in a little more.
They need some marketing help IMO.
Too many citizens I've heard just spew that it's 'a mall food court', when in reality there's tons of local, nuanced, and international options here, and many of them are great. They need a multi-pronged digital presence.

Is there outdoor space to eat or is it all indoors? That's been playing into our decision matrix, but if they've got outdoor space to eat, I'd be there in like 20 minutes.
You are correct. They just seem to be coasting.bwcrow1s wrote: ↑Jun 08, 2022They need some marketing help IMO.

The outdoor seating in the summer is just baking in the sun, lunch or even earlier dinner in the summer months is just out of the question. Needs some shade.
I am not worried about the success of this project in the long term. In addition to the other attractions, the greenway connection is going to HUGE for business IMO. Especially once the other side of the highway develops more and is connected.

Stopped into the Food Hall for the first time in a few months this Saturday and I was happy to see that it was still busy even with SLU out for the summer. This was a t3:30 as well, so it wasn't lunch or dinner, it was in between. We're approaching the one-year anniversary of this place being open, and it's still a success in my view. The Food Hall only has two stalls left to fill, and some shops are beginning to open. Other things, like Puttshack and TruFusion, are now bidding while plans advance for Alamo Movies and an expansion of the Food Hall's bathrooms. I'd say City Foundry is only getting started and will have a long life of success.
This is the first summer, and extended break of college students, for this place, so it's the ultimate test. So far, so good. It needs more shops and anchors to draw more people down continually. Afterall, this is one of the few new anchors in the neighborhood that could make or break Midtown's future.

Nice to hear Puttshack going forward. That will be major draw for the first few years at least. Thanks for the updates as always.chriss752 wrote: ↑Jun 20, 2022Stopped into the Food Hall for the first time in a few months this Saturday and I was happy to see that it was still busy even with SLU out for the summer. Sandbox VR is bidding on the SLDC planroom for retail space 114. This is on the eastern end of the Food Hall.

Bad Ass! Puttshack + Sandbox + Top Golf nearby. The city is gonna out suburb the county pretty soon. Great news!chriss752 wrote: ↑Jun 28, 2022Sandbox VR is bidding on the SLDC planroom for retail space 114. This is on the eastern end of the Food Hall.

^If the Foundry can land a handful of big name mall-type shops like Gap Inc, Apple Store, BB&B, Foot Locker... mixed in with some local stuff... I think we'll really be rolling.
Niche BBQ is moving in as well. Can’t tell which space they’re going in yet.

Someone posted it was the Fassler hall space but it seems to have been deleted or was on another threadchriss752 wrote: ↑Jun 29, 2022Niche BBQ is moving in as well. Can’t tell which space they’re going in yet.

I remember Zara was rumored years ago. Zara would be big. Uniqlo would be a home run. H&M home would be another one.pattimagee wrote: ↑Jun 28, 2022^If the Foundry can land a handful of big name mall-type shops like Gap Inc, Apple Store, BB&B, Foot Locker... mixed in with some local stuff... ^Agreed - any of those types would be amazing. Also with GRG rolling through I was thinking it would be cool to get a Patagonia/REI/AlipineShop type shop.
Hi new to the Forum but It appears in the leasing brochure that Big Shark Bicycle is opening a store in the Alamo Draft House building
I have been meaning to post on your comment ever since seeing that REI was going to open their second metro area store. Seems like REI would be a great fit and if somehow and rock wall could be incorporated into the space IMO.pattimagee wrote: ↑Jun 28, 2022^If the Foundry can land a handful of big name mall-type shops like Gap Inc, Apple Store, BB&B, Foot Locker... mixed in with some local stuff... I think Zara was more of a dream than a rumor. I really doubt they'd even open a store anywhere in the metro area. And as far as mall-like stores go, they're struggling as is in the malls. Even if something like Gap opens, they would essentially have to move one of the stores from West Co or Galleria. And since it costs money to move, that just ain't gonna happen.

Foundry would be a perfect location for an STL location of Bike Stop Cafe, or another of our bike themed coffee shops. There still isn't a great coffee option in the whole Foundry complex.
I would also like to see a bike/e-bike rental shop. Perhaps that could even be included in Big Shark's business plan.

^I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't be hard to have a single booth coffee/espresso service and it could do really well...
