Something like Not Just Coffee at the Market at 7th in Charlotte would be so easy and cheap to set up in one of the Foundry booths.
A Lululemon would be a hit here as well. They have one in the middle of downtown Columbia, Missouri that is mostly staffed by college students and most of the shoppers are students as well. I think this would be a huge hit for SLU and Wash U students as well as shoppers in the city.
^ I’m not sure they’d put another location so close to their Maryland Plaza store in the CWE.

I think I saw that Golden Gems is opening a location at Foundry, and they have a location far closer than Lululemon's in Maryland Plaza (in Midtown Alley).
Of course, Golden Gems could be closing their Midtown Alley location, too.

The one thing missing in the Food Hall - or better yet - on an out parcel with outdoor seating - A TRENDY HIP COFFEE SHOP. There are no coffee houses in the fold. Please Foundry!

I vote for Coffeestamp to open a stand at Foundry in the food hall or retail space.

Would be cool to have a conveyor sushi place at the Foundry.

I'm a fan of the little Sushi stand in the Fresh Thyme. $5 Sushi Thursdays
I agree. Very much a east/west coast staple - conveyor belt sushi. Would like to see it here. Foundry is great place.Trololzilla wrote: ↑Jul 02, 2022Would be cool to have a conveyor sushi place at the Foundry.
A coffee shop would be great. At this point, they only have three food stalls left, and are turning down weekly inquiries. Holding out for A+ concept and operator.GoHarvOrGoHome wrote: ↑Jul 01, 2022Something like Not Just Coffee at the Market at 7th in Charlotte would be so easy and cheap to set up in one of the Foundry booths.

Finally made it down to Foundry Friday with my wife. The place was absolutely hopping. It really does remind me of the early days of Union Station: little art boutiques, lots of local, lots of commotion. Good stuff!
I wish them every success and I hope they can keep it going. It's a great location.

I think Foundry will have more staying power than the last Union Station -- and its staying power increases with every new building coming to the area around it.
But I also think the new Union Station remodel has more staying power than the last one, too -- and for the same reasons: the loads of development surrounding it.
I get the feeling Union Station will be a popular spot to hang out before MLS games, and I think away fans will probably start or end their day there pretty often.

I wonder if it would be possible to attract Lego to open a new Legoland here. Something to attract more families. I was finally able to go for the first time last week and I was impressed by all of the food options. I went at around 2 or 3 on a weekday and there were quite a lot of people.

^^Much as I hate to admit this, I think the free parking alone gives Foundry more staying power. I think Union Station 2 could have had the staying power had downtown kept the 80s/90s employment base and had we been a bit less afraid of public transit or paying to park. (They always validated your parking, so far as I can recall, if you spent over a certain rather modest amount. But you had to know that and do what it took to get your ticket stamped.)
Honestly, I think they had a decent run. If foundry can do as well they'll have succeeded in my book. US2 kept it going for about thirty years, more or less. That's not terrible for a shopping center. After that probably every one of them at least needs an update, and more realistically a thorough re-shuffle. I do hope Foundry can do better in the long run, but even if they don't I'll call it a win. US2 kept the lights on so that US3 could happen. Foundry2 has the potential to do the same. Lord knows what that neighborhood will be thirty years from now, but let's hope vibrant and dense. (SLU isn't likely to go anywhere, at least.)

There was a proposal several years ago for a Legoland on the IL side: https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/l ... s/1889089/jacob_rb_15 wrote: ↑Jul 11, 2022I wonder if it would be possible to attract Lego to open a new Legoland here. Are we talking Legoland amusement park or just a Lego store like they already have at West County Mall?
You must mean the store because Legolands are full amusement parks. I've been to the Florida one. It's the old Cypress Gardens.

The Lego retail stores are pretty sweet. Disney Springs in Orlando has a beauty. If the Foundry scored one of those it would be an instant crowd draw.

I'm talking about one similar to the Legoland Discovery Center in Kansas City, Chicago, Etc.

Interesting concept. A Magic House experience centered around Legos. I didn't know that format existed.
l
I believe all the spaces at Foundry that could potentially handle a concept like that are already spoken for. There would need to be a major expansion east. In the meantime, I'd settle for the retail shop.
