I think what happened is that whoever wrote that thought the park that's 5 blocks away is called Tower Grove Park.
Sure, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, that they just got the parks confused, somehow, but then...Kranzberg?quincunx wrote: ↑Aug 09, 2021I think what happened is that whoever wrote that thought the park that's 5 blocks away is called Tower Grove Park.
If everyone made a list of the top ten most notable or likely destinations "within walking distance" of 4400 Lindell, I doubt many people would include Kranzberg Arts Center, over a mile and a half away...
Besides, it's been quite awhile, so maybe the demographics have changed, but from my experience most of the residents of Towne House Apartments would have some difficulty just making it around the Basilica and back.

Inventory at the retail store, also to be called Big Muddy Adventures, will include boats, gadgets and accessories, and will be "aimed at inspiring people to get outside and explore the Great Middle West," according to a Tuesday press release. The mix will heavily focus on water activities but also include apparel and camping gear. "We look forward to finding some smaller brands around the country that are not currently available in St. Louis and curating a nice selection of fun stuff," Alex Kuntzman, shop manager, said in a statement about the retail store's offerings.
It will be the only U.S. dealer for Canadian boat builder Clipper Canoes, whose voyageur-style canoes are used by Big Muddy Adventures on many of its river trips, officials said. The store is expected to get its first canoe order in early 2022.
The retail store will hold a lounge area with a library of books and maps as well as space for meetings and events outside.

That's great news!
There are quite a few empty lots and buildings on the northern part of the neighborhood, and it's kind of strange to me that more of these lots aren't seeing some love, considering SkinkyD seems to be booming. Anyone know what gives? Are the building requirements more pricy than adjacent neighborhoods?

Yeah. I wish all the folks who say, "Central West End development doesn't need incentives anymore - it should all be directed north of Delmar now", would take a good long look at aerial images north of Lindell, but south of Delmar.Miss Shell wrote: ↑Aug 25, 2021That's great news!

There are more than enough empty or underutilized properties available to accommodate decades of the kind of medium to high density rehab and new construction growth the CWE has seen over the last several years. The increase in density is necessary throughout the CWE and Debaliviere Place area before you can expect market forces to take over to push development upward and outward, and to put enough well-heeled feet on sidewalks to create the kind of streetscape and retail scene that you see in successful urban neighborhoods.
Gonna have to check this out - looks so cool

Nice! Looks like a great add to the neighborhood!
A few pics from yesterday. The 4 unit going in on Westminster is huge. Thankfully the old mansion to the east is far enough away as a parking lot separates them. Compared to the one to the west, the new building definitely sits too high by a few feet but overall will be a nice addition to F’s Westminster Place.

$300k building permit application submitted for new home at 4414 Delmar. The parcel has 135' of frontage. Let's hope it's being subdivided.

What happened here? Was there a fire that led to the demo of the old building?

The point seems unnecessary with the design. Maybe if it was flat it wouldn’t seem as weird.framer wrote:I like it, but the roof seems weirdly off, somehow.

Lack of understanding or intentional disregard of existing scale and context….
Yeah, that's bad. Nice home wrong street. I could see this on the right lot though.imran wrote: ↑Nov 28, 2021Lack of understanding or intentional disregard of existing scale and context….
I actually like this project (it's part of the 6-unit West Village Townhomes on West Pine). I'd like to see some recent photos of the whole project in context with it's neighbors.

Yeah looks pretty good to me, I don't understand what the other posters find so evidently wrong with it. I think the development on this block is interesting, with this and Artizen, it's adding some low-rise density.
Thanks. I had searched for west pine but the post did not come up for me. I will continue in the west village townhomes thread.
