Interesting how they've totally encircled Iron Hill.

^But, the GRG Framework presentation doesn't show anything like that.

^ Hmm...I'm not so sure how I feel about that.  I think Mill Creek Greenway would have been a better choice.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if in classic St. Louis fashion everyone just keeps calling it Chouteau Greenway.

GRG posted a bit of an explanation on their website: Name the Greenway
After a robust discussion at their March meeting, the Board selected “Brickline Greenway” to be the new name of this greenway, part of the overall network throughout the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County. The experience of this greenway will weave you through the heart of our city – no matter which of the many neighborhoods you’re passing through, you’re sure to notice one thing: brick. From the clay mines beneath your feet, this strong, gritty and gorgeous material has literally shaped our city for hundreds of years. It’s a testament to the sturdy, self-made attitude embodied by our city and our people. The newly renamed Brickline Greenway gives visitors an idea of what they’ll see as they explore – the combination of beautiful brick and native Missouri trees and plants. It pays homage to our history and invites everyone to collaborate toward building a more connected St. Louis.

I like it.

It's vaguely evocative of Brookline, Mass (inner ring Boston burb).  Not sure whether that's good or bad, but at least, like St. Louis, it's old and has a ton of brick architecture...

I hope that true. Brickline is such a nothing, plastic name. We have a strong history, we should be proud.

Damn.  Thought my name idea was a winner.

Just build the MF'er already. All these useless PR pronouncements about naming are excruciating when we're already lagging so far behind on bike infrastructure.

We're not going to catch up by maybe building one decent piece of bike infrastructure in the next decade.

Seriously. This project will be built out over the next 10-15 years, why not start now on some of the easy parts? New York didn't build its bike network in one giant project, but incrementally. One street at a time.

Hearing there is a level of concern that 2020 Brickline progress could be delayed/pulled back as sales tax receipts for GRG shrink and private money earmarked pulls back.

I prefer "on hold" for another decade or more.

^Maybe during "pause" they can forget they "bricked" the thing and maybe redesign. Again.

Updated map of current project areas. Just to be clear, not all routes on this map are being built. They’re studying parallel routes and will make decisions later.

^How are they planning on getting their Greenway through that mess between the Compton/Market and the Grand/Forest Park Ave. intersections...?  Wouldn't Olive St. between 20th and Spring be much simpler (not to mention so much more pleasant)?

Edit: Ok, looking at the aerial view of the area, I guess the greenway will run along the north side of Market / Forest Park Ave. That avoids all of the on-ramp and FPA underpass mess. Nice scenic view of the highway and deteriorating concrete to the south, but at least it doesn't have to cross any streets or curb cuts after Compton. It still has to get through the deathtrap at Grand though...

Looks like it goes under the Grand Viaduct past the Metrolink station. It's not the most well connected route but will serve as a nice system spine just like the the metrolink ROW that it follows.

Another reason why Grand & FPP needs to be at grade intersection sooner than later just as they did with Kingshighway & FPP.   SLU needs to step up the table to or be the bull in the room to make it happen

Considering they just announced the Compton viaduct replacement, I would think they would wait until that is finished to start fixing that disaster of an intersection.

Totally agree. Also agree with Harv that it’ll likely come after Compton since the city will have to throw some money at it...but yes, it can’t come soon enough.

What BJC/WashU did with FPA and Kingshighway looks incredible. Still a bit wide...but a huge improvement, aesthetically too.

I hope they aren’t waiting for Compton to be done before starting on grand and FFP since Compton won’t be done until 2026

GRG is seeking TAP funding for Taylor to Vandeventer. Public comment period now open.

https://www.ewgateway.org/transportatio ... c-comment/

I strongly support both City-Tucker and GRGs application, but it’s no secret that this is a critical piece of the Brickline. Meaning it’ll have to happen regardless of federal funding, I’m curious if they’ll call that bluff. Does it help if they’re only seeking 20%?

Tucker on the other hand, likely not happening unless city is given money.
