^Well, probably not much of a skyline impact, but they'll certainly add some density.
I'm not sure I totally agree with this.  While it's not going to have the impact that Centene II or 212 did, two additional buildings of 16 and 14 floors replacing a handful of low rise structures and surface parking lots should make a sizable impact.  You'll definitely be able to see them from 40 and 170 even if they're not terribly tall high-rises.  Do agree about the added density on the street though, this project fills a sizable hole in that part of downtown Clayton.

Think we'll see one or two cranes for this?  My uneducated guess would be two.
I'm not too informed on what leads to the number of cranes but looking at the size of the site and the distance between the two buildings on the podium, I wouldn't be surprised if there were two.

I hope we get word on the hotel by Shaw Park soon. This section of Clayton will be seeing a lot of construction and added life.

^Good find. A parking podium this large fronting Forsyth will really need some life to it. Seems like they agree!

One of the last large projects I worked on had two for the simple reason that the lead contractor couldn't find a way to site one so that it would service both the hotel and the garage. If I recall my boss's story correctly it's basically a matter of the reach of the arm and where you can put the base. (And of course whether or not wide spread portions of the project require a crane. If they don't then . . . no big deal.)

Anyway, I'll hand this back over to those better informed than I. (Being but a lowly stagehand and musician myself, albeit one with a hardhat and an OSHA card.) Glad to see this going forward. Hope the garage facade looks interesting when all is said and done.

Isn't the east tower considered "the second phase"? Might be a few years before they start that one.

I'm not certain, but they have it barricaded off just the same. I was under the impression it was one phase but hopefully that's not just my aspiration for this project. It would make sense given the current class a demand in Clayton at least...

I was also under the impression it was all one phase or I don’t know why first watch would have been kicked out.

The garage itself is phase 1. The proposed second tower on top of the garage is phase 2. That's my understanding anyway. I guess we'll see.

I was also under the impression it was all one large project.  I don't recall any reporting about multiple phases.  Especially with how tight the Clayton office market is.

I just did a read through of the current plans on the Clayton Architectural Review Board website and similarly didn't see any reference to different phases.  The second tower is host to more retail and commissioned artwork the Clayton board requires for approval as well, so I think it's part of the same timeline, but we'll see.

Architectural Review Board website has some, what I assume are, final renderings. They appear to show this feature.

FPFinalStreet1.png (931.65KiB)

FPFinalWest.png (784.78KiB)

These are nice renderings of the building in the evening.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing this rise.

I agree.  I really think this is pretty sharp looking, including the garage.  I wish the Brentwood facing tower was a bit taller (and maybe residential), but this is a massive improvement over this:

Spiritas was busy busy today with at least 3 excavators demoing the site. The First Watch building is not long for this world.

Found myself talking to one of the site's foremen yesterday. He told me that the Meramec lot & garage will be gone promptly, followed by the old Crazy Fish building, then First Watch's old building. The site will then dig underground for the next few months. Steel may rise up around July or August.

Most importantly: The build is already fully financed. No matter what happens going forward with this new abnormal, Forsyth Point should progress as scheduled.

Provided it stays up and running, the Centene 3 cam will have a good skyline view of this site.

Some additional PD reporting on this.
Demolition is already about 80 percent complete to clear the site for Clayton-based US Capital Development’s Forsyth Point project. Despite the economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, US Capital Development’s Scott Haley said construction should begin soon and the firm hopes to have the building complete by the end of 2021.

Clayton aldermen gave final zoning approval during a board meeting held by conference call Tuesday night. The west tower, at Brentwood and Forsyth boulevards, would rise 14 floors and 193 feet with about 226,000 square feet of office space. The east tower, at the corner of Forsyth and Meramec Avenue, is proposed at 16 floors and 201 feet with about 267,000 square feet of of office space.

2 foundation drills are on site. This project is going to be larger than I thought. Just looking at the site, this is massive. Maybe 2 tower cranes will be used.

Great update. Surprised to see how much progress is being made in this environment.

Sorry to see 15 N Meramec go. Some of the earlier renderings showed it surviving.

^^Two towers would definitely require two cranes, even without the significant distance between the buildings, unless they don't start construction on Tower 2 until after Tower 1 is completed...or vice versa... 🙂
