Patiently waiting for another shoe to fall to justify all this parking....

I think that shoe is coming, and I think old-time Clayton residents that miss it's old "small town charm" will complain.

But yeah, that building is just not worthy of that intersection.

Cannot believe they let the apartment tower go. I really like the design of that. Nothing groundbreaking but it looked quite nice IMO. Hoping that design/project returns but this time downtown 👏

its not that bad. definitely not a flattering angle, and i think they could have done better even while simultaneously preserving the existing buildings.

^ I don't hate the glass office tower part...but that garage is just plain awful.

It’s funny (or tragic?) how proposals like that art deco looking one on Hanley in the Moorlands will get shot down by NIMBYs as totally unacceptable for the neighborhood. And then this stuff just sails through the process.

The old Famous-Barr garage, the current Centene garage (still waiting on the beautification plan for its western wall), the TWO brand new Centene garages (!!!), and now this monster. Soon Forsyth will have so many massive monolithic garages to choose from!!!

Won’t be a chair or toilet for long. More like a U. ;)

^ I guess that is the other shoe that people are referencing. Anyone have details?

It would be nice to see a J instead of a U, something with a bit more height than the chair.

We all want these towers but they’re not feasible in St Louis due to economics and demand of higher than market Class A office space. If the demand was there and the economics made sense, developers would build it.

Understood, I was just hoping for something along the lines of the 22 story Flaherty and Collins development that had been proposed here. It seems there is a market for apartments/condos in Clayton though we may see the saturation point if all the new proposals come to fruition.

Like this development or not the sale of the property was “narrowly” conditionally approved Tuesday night.
As I alluded to previously there is a currently unannounced office component for a Missouri company which will justify the parking.
Koman is on a short timeline to get started so if this is to move forward look for more announcements in the coming months.

^Maybe this is why Koman seems to have put their Cortex project on the back burner.

Another interesting tidbit from the meeting Tuesday night is that 4ksqft of the retail must be dedicated to the arts.

That would be bummer as Koman put Cupples X on hold and now maybe Cortex K.   Would be nice if a Missouri company, especially already in the region would put some jobs back in the city.

^ That rang a bell for me too, but I think they might be different guys.  That or Bill Koman looks realllllly good for 85 years old.
