First, we don't have senior members, just people that have been here a long time and have a lot of posts. Second, I didn't know I threw my weight around closing threads and banning people (Only 2 people have ever been banned here). All we do is try to keep this place peaceful for everyone to use, on our own time. This includes non-members. If you don't like our moderating, I'd like you to try to do it, and deal with the people on here, and manage to develop the institutional memory that we possess of this forum from it's earliest days and even before this forum from other places. I don't get some thrill from telling people to follow the rules or locking threads, I'm just trying to keep this place clean and smooth. We don't want this forum to be like all the other ones out there.

This thread is meant to be an in-jest way to blow off steam that can occur via personal interaction throughout the forum. It'd be nice to see a bit more wit and less crassness. The continual beating-up and teaming-up on people isn't necessary. I think everyone gets the picture after a rant or two.



Additionally, it'd be nice if people that do have issues with each other can better understand each other's point of view and work toward conflict resolution.

Once again, seniority had nothing to do with my post. I was referring to the fact that there are several well-respected gay forumers who have been around here for a long time. You offended them Goat. You also offended me as a person who thinks St. Louis (and urbanstl) should be a welcoming place to all people who love the city, and all of those who have yet to be converted. You running around and firing off "fag" comments on this board makes the whole city look like a bunch of slack-jawed, dead-behind-the-eyes hate mongers and flies in the face of everything that urbanism represents. You can have your opinions, but only a first-rate asshat throws around homophobic or racist ignorance like that in a discussion forum that is supposed to be about keeping up on development and issues in the city. You want people to start busting the N-word, or inciting hatred against Arabs or Bosnians, or Baptists or anybody else on here? If you do, I invite you to leave because you don't get it. If you don't, bite your little puppy tongue with your sharp little puppy teeth and get creative with your contributions. Any idiot can hate.
