I just got an email stating they are having a grand opening April 3-5. Is it going to be completed by then?

This is coinciding with the grand opening of the new post office plaza. There will be music, the initiation of the waterfall and other things Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hope they have pricing and floor plans ready.

^The sales center has had floorplans since at least a year ago when I went in. (might have been 2 years ago actually)

Did they also have pricing at that time?

Clearly, that's the Roberts Brothers' marketing strategy for this property.

larry Connors was downtown at 15th and Washington last night for a story on the 10 o'clock news. He interviewed Mike? Roberts and discussed the Roberts Tower and some other developments (Schnucks, BP Village). Focused on how Roberts was putting his own money into his development and Mike offered a suggestion to the owners of the softball field, recommending they do the same. Overall a great feature, highlighting the 6% increase in population DT, etc. It was part of the recurring theme of Larry's "good" stories in tough times.

Says they haven't sold 1 unit yet, however that doesn't worry them, they are in the market of selling to someone something they can see and touch and feel.

According to that video, more people would live downtown but they'd have to drive to the suburbs to grocery shop.
"suburbs." You keep using this word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

^ Well, you're not REALLY going to shop at the Lindell Schnuck's or the one on Arsenal or at a Shop 'N Save ARE YOU? The Clayton Road Schnuck's is nice, but very busy, no you're going to HAVE TO drive to Lindburgh and Clayton to find a reasonable grocery store. EVERYBODY knows that!
By the way, does anyone here think that if the Roberts could have pre-sold this entire building that they would have chosen not to? Didn't think so. That said, they may be doing the right thing now - people aren't pre-buying and with the Schnuck's openning and the plaza completed this area won't require much imagination for a potential buyer.

It's about bloody time that another prominent developer pointed out the obvious about our beloved Cardinals. I'm tired of all of the excuses made on the Cardinals' behalf. If the project is as viable as the Cardinals purport it to be, they could've at least built an office tower to accommodate parties presently interested in Softball Village and/or a proper Cardinals HoF museum before the economic meltdown.
Back to the specific topic at hand, I don't agree with every development decision the Roberts Brothers have made, but I am glad they've put their money where their mouths are when it comes to downtown development by building this tower. I'm sure they're confident they'll have buyers once it's complete, and I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing in this case.

...what is wrong with the Schnucks's on Arsenal? I think that store is clean and just fine. Am I missing something? Should I not be shopping there?? Clientele seems like pretty average south city people. And if you are overly concerned with that Schnucks, there is a beautiful store in Hampton Village...far closer than Lindbergh of Clayton.

I know that this has been talked about before, but it is going to be a tough sell with no underground parking. My understanding is that Roberts Tower residents will be forced to park on the other side of the Post Office Plaza. How can you market a luxury condo without attached or underground parking? I wouldn't like that unless I was in a city with a great mass transit system. St. Louis is not that city, especially with all of the cuts. I sure hope this development sells. The future of new residential development Downtown, could hinge upon this project.

^ I'd be they'll have complementary valet service provided through the shared services of the integrated Mayfair hotel. AND he garage Mahal is less than a block away. Makes you wonder if this building would have been possible had the Century not been torn down. (Doug please don't comment)

^ You would hope they have valet, but that is still a pain compared to having your own garage. I just hope they can overcome this hurdle and sell the units.
- 3,762
^^ if it's a parking issue (for the new tower, the renovated post office, etc) couldn't they have built a garage in place of the new plaza and left the century? not trying to dust off the ol' corpse again but... was the roberts tower even a twinkle in their eye in 2004? my guess is "yes".
don't get me wrong - i do like the new tower. but it pales in comparison to the century both in presence and aesthetics IMHO.

There will be shared valet with the hotel. The original plans had parking under the plaza, but that turned out to not be feasible and ended up delaying both projects.

^ Craptastic about sums it up. It's really awful. They need to sub out to a better design co.

Perhaps they don't have the funding to spend on a better website……

More likely, they had too much money to spend on it. That's how they ended up with a Flash site.

Though that wouldn't explain why they're not paying their contractors.
