The Roberts Tower will make a huge visual and psychological impact on Downtown. The numbers will follow.

Also, installation as begun on the top floor windows!

Painted concrete looks great!

That looks very good from what you can tell through that picture. I was initially questioning the amount of concrete, but it appears to look pretty good.

Now begins the fun part. I am extremely interested in seeing what the demand for these units is like. It will be very telling to see what the region's demand is for a tangible product such as this. I have said it before, I know, but if this goes well we may see a handful of new buildings hit the market asap. StL area real estate avoided the bubble comparatively speaking, and I am thinking developers may be watching this. Hopefully we have enough demand to take these off the market extremely quickly, and other developers see downtown StL as a good, most importantly safe, bet to put some money to work in the next year.

I sincerely hope this building is entirely occupied by Christmas. If I was moving back to StL right now, I would be looking (provided they price them right).

New towers would be nice, but there's still plenty of work to be done to renovate some of downtown's finest buildings including the Arcade and the Chemical.

From a 'Transportation Updates' e-mail sent out yesterday evening by the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis:
8th Street closure
Today the Roberts Tower crane will begin its two-week dismantling. The project will require closure of the 8th Street sidewalk between Washington Ave. and Locust from July 20-25.

I'm surprised they didn't leave it unpainted. Once you paint it, you have to keep repainting it.

I don't think it is actually paint. Rather, it is a coating of some type. I could be wrong, but it is something with a different texture to it than the original concrete.

I believe that it's insulating paint, which is basically paint with a grainy/beaded additive that gives it great insulating properties and a texture that's different from typical paint.

The other two sides were painted/coated a while back, so long ago I wondered why the didn't do this side.
Honestly, I thought they ran out of funds.

The restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner, will quietly open its doors on Dec. 9, with a grand opening to follow in late December or early January.

An official Update from the Roberts Tower Marketing Director.

After waiting and watching and wondering the Roberts Tower is finally starting to look like a finished building. As a St. Louis resident and an architecture enthusiast I can't help but well up with pride at the final product. This is the first new residential construction in over 50 years in downtown St. Louis, so we had a lot of obstacles to over come, but how exciting was it to watch a dirt hole transform into an imperial tower!

The Sales Center is now open on Fridays for walk ins and appointments. Final floor plans and some limited preliminary pricing information are now available. All are welcome to stop in at their convenience to talk about potential on site tours (in the near future) and any other questions you might have, I also have information about other Roberts rental loft properties in the St. Louis area. 901 locust is the address, stop in from 12 -4 or email jennc@roberts-companies.com to make an appointment. I also have a limited number of Shula's VIP cards to grant the first few visitors.

Ultimately there will be 55 units. The 3rd floor has 4 units, floors 4 - 13 have 3 units per floor, floors 13 - 22 are the larger units with only 2 per floor, the Fitness and spa center will be on the 23rd floor, and the top two floors will house two amazing split level penthouses. Reservations may start as early as January.

The 5th floor will house the display residences, they are scheduled to be completed early Spring 2011.

Don Shula's 347 Grill is scheduled to open this winter. The interior is going to be phenomenal. Light fixtures from 3Form will be the center piece of the bar hanging from the 2nd floor ceiling, though the mezzanine creating a dramatic sculptural feel, unlike anything I've yet to see in town. Check out this link for an idea of what 3 form can do. http://www.3-form.com/light_art.php

The menu and environment has a wide appeal, specifically designed to appease both genders. Flat screen tv's showing the game of the hour, delicious martini list, and alternative menu. It is so much more than just steak and offers patrons the best of both worlds.

Roberts Tower and the Roberts Mayfair are more than just neighbors. They are connected now on the 2nd floor, creating an expansive ball room and meeting spaces. Air walls make this space ultimately versatile. We'll be unveiling this ballroom at the annual Holiday Party. Email me to get on the invite list!

Next year plan to attend the Grand Opening Of Shula's 347!

^Actually looks alright. I hope it has very created lighting. Anything with lights is phenomenal as far as I am concerned. The best Skylines are the brightest.

As for the rental units, I imagine if there are waiting this long to even begin attempting to sell units, they are more than willing to wait out the sales. Personally, I would put money on sales being quicker than most expect, provided they get the word out that they are actually finally selling the units.

Building looks great...I'll bet the view from the penthouses is amazing...now Gordon Gekko's gonna have a place to call home...

Has anyone seen the progress of the Shula's 347 downstairs? I'm curious to see whether its a sports related restaurant or something more urban chic...
