^ sorry.... it would be interesting if that attractive retail spot sat vacant while other properties were redeveloped first.
^Agreed. Those two together would be prime for a 9 N Euclid or Lindell-Opus type development. The form-based code has those two lots at a 12 story building height maximum.

The Boy Scouts/MacArthur building doesn't do much for me, but if it ever gets to the point where developers take an interest in that corner, I wouldn't mind seeing the corner building preserved.
It would be nice if some of the non-profits/social services providers would take advantage of the hot CWE market by selling their properties and moving to cheaper areas that could use a little help (like the CWE did when they first moved there) - midtown, downtown, north of Delmar in the central corridor, etc.

I still hold out hope that Covington will try to build that 14 story residential project somewhere in the CWE.
^ I'm kinda curious who were the two developers who submitted RFP's to CORTEX for Silo Lofts? Would Covington be one of them for those with any knowledge?

Thanks for posting. Nice!
About once a month I take a swing by there after dropping the kids off at school. After slow progress, it's going up fast and making a huge impact!

You know what still grinds my gears? The people too lazy to cross the street and instead walk in traffic along this stretch.
^^Cool. Let the CWE grocery arms race begin. Hopefully the Lindell Schnucks is next.
Ask the police to cite them under a manner of walking violation.dweebe wrote:You know what still grinds my gears? The people too lazy to cross the street and instead walk in traffic along this stretch.
The obvious solution here is to provide a walkway on both sides of the street. People walking down the street here should at least get the same benefit afforded to people driving cars of being able to go straight down the street without having to take a 2 minute detour.

Wabash, that pic reminds me of something you'd see in Austin. Love seeing crane porn in STL.... Cool pic....
This picture was posted on Nicki's Central West End Guide (a great blog of happenings around the CWE) on April 9th. It really gives a sense for how much the streetscape down Euclid is about to change - especially considering the Opus project hasn't even started going vertical:

The brick and stone facade is going up on the Citywalk development and it looks great!!!! While I prefer a balanced residential mix (homeowners and renters). . . this project is being built to last as a great compliment to a great neighborhood. I only wish the "Standard" (located at Forest Park and Vandeventer) would have used Citywalk as the standard from which to choose building materials.
