I was told that in a month or so The Meridian will be offering closet organization systems to its residents. I think through NuSpace. Not sure how much it will be but I am pretty excited.

What's NuSpace? I googled it and can't find anything closet related.

I think shelbyelyse might be referring to NewSpace - http://www.newspace.com

I'm sorry I have never seen the company name written. It is a local closet organization company.

I was there over the weekend (sorry, I forgot my camera so I don't have any pics!) and they're still saying that some of the lower units will be ready in May, and that my unit on the 9th floor will be ready at the end of July..... but that building looks FAR from finished to me, so I'm getting nervous about those timelines....

I would like to get a better idea of what to expect realistically. I was told that they are ready to put in drywall very soon. Granted they said this in the conversation where they were trying to force me to make in stock selections for my customized bathroom vanities do they may certainly have been exaggerating. I would prefer to move in July/August - a month after they say they will be set for delivery. Does anyone know how quickly things should realistically move from where they are now. I agree with Aimster that it looks far from finished to me but they promised me that when we moved in the common spaces would be finished as well. I would expect no less but it seems like a lot to do more quickly than other developments have been able to do it.

they are starting on drywall. we were on the 5th floor and they had drywall in at least one unit and were framing another.

I was in 503 on 2 occasions in the past week, and there was a big difference. You'd be surprised how fast good carpenters/electricans/plumbers can work.

But, they are probably still being a bit optimistic. I think they said 8th floor would be late July/early August, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was more like September.

My boyfriend stopped in there this weekend and they told him that they're talking to Starbucks and possibly a dry cleaners for the ground floor. I like that idea much better than the furniture store they were talking about a few months ago! I like furniture, but I'm not gonna run down on my lunch hour and pick up an ottoman.

I would love to have a florist but a dry cleaner would also be very convenient.

I was in this weekend and they told me that the first floor parking will be reserved for those purchasing lifts and then prioritized based on the price of your unit. I'm sure those of you who were interested in the lifts have already been contacted and I did not ask any prices.

Also, they told me they were unable to get the cable lighting upgrade in the entry, they are substituting a monorail with four lights in a shallow S-Shape. It will be $50 more at an even $1000.

I could do without a Starbucks or a dry cleaners. A small grocery would have been much preferred. Or even a restaurant.

I would definitely prefer a grocery store, but given the choice between a Starbucks and a furniture store, I would definitely choose Starbucks!

There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, so that's not high on my list.

I suppose, even though I find "Starbucks people" annoying. :P

Plus I wonder how the tenants fare in those buildings with restaurants as far as odors and pest control.

I would be 8 floors up, so I don't think I would be affected.

Right, but those of us on the 2nd floor might have some problems.

I questioned them again on the timeline and I thought I detected a little less certainty about the June 1 delivery date. This is the very first time that Ted has ever even recognized the possibility that it might not happen. He said everything was going on schedule but that if there are things that are here in time, then there could be delays. When they say 6/1 delivery does anyone know if they mean delivery from Paric to The Meridian to finish the flooring and have us do our 30 day walkthroughs, or deliver to us to move in?

Yeah, it sounds like the timelines are starting to slip... they've sounded very confident when they tell us it will be ready at the end of July, but this weekend they admitted that it could be the end of August.

If you're on the 2nd floor you'll be the first to know if there are delays. Please keep us in the loop!

I could be wrong, but isn't there already a Starbucks about four blocks east (right across from the City Centre building on the south side of Washington)?

Some sort of decent convenience/grocery store might be a good bet for that space. Is it too small for a Straub's?

I guess so, why don't you pitch in to switch me up to something more appropriate, big spender? :)

I bet pests can travel up there, too. And even if they don't, I bet the whole building has to pitch in for my 2nd floor problem.

I think I will survive in my lowly 2nd floor condo, plus I'll have the higher ceilings which I love.

I suggested Straub's to the Meridian people long ago and they seemed receptive. Then there was a rumor that Straub's was going in to the old Europa space at 14th. Now I'm not sure what is happening. But someone else told me they have been trying to get Straub's downtown for a long time but they are difficult to work with, wanting tax breaks and all sorts of special stuff. I would absolutely love to have a Straub's (as long as they brought their little floral shop).

Everything that I've read lately says you will not see a Straub's, Whole Foods, etc., for at least another 2 to 3 years. Just not the critical mass of residents living here yet. Hope that is wrong but I would not expect any announcement of this nature anytime soon. And they can tell you all day long that they are "talking" to Straub's but I wouldn't put any weight into that as everyone seems to be "talking" to someone.

Oh dear god no! Anything but a Whole Foods!

And besides, it's way too small for a "real" grocer. It would have to be a City Grocer type place.

I agree. We would be VERY lucky to get a Whole Foods in that space.
