Thanks for any help.

I go weeks and even months without hearing anything from them. Not very good at keeping folks up to date.

There is no new flooring option. The options are what was shown to you in the web-application. If you're interested in stained concrete, call a company that does it such as Master-Crete and coordinate with the Meridian.

Sometimes they are hard to reach. I'm not even sure what their hours are. I was downtown today from 2:30-3:15 and no one was around although the sign on the front door said 2:30-6:30.... That is irritating, especially with deadlines approaching. They've always called me back, although I can't speak for the experiences of others.

None-the-less, for those on floors 2-5, we have not rec'd an email indicating that staining is a 'new' flooring option.

The concrete staining is allowed as a customization. Ted confirmed for me and another unit that Master Crete will be doing the work for me, another unit on my floor, and anyone else who would like to choose this customization. It is not a new flooring option but a customization that you can request. It will be included in the final purchase price. You will have to indicate interest in this option to get the customization. It is not a new flooring option that you will see on the board. They are willing to do just about anything you want as a customization if you ask. I have made several to my unit and am very pleased with the result.

Hip at the sales center is usually pretty good about calling people back. I am sorry to hear that others have had problems getting responses but every one of those involved in the project has a cell phone and/or home phone that they will provide you. I suggest the next time that you actually speak to someone that you get a private number. I have never had a problem getting a returned call in less than one day. Although the upgrades were "due" on Monday, just like the lighting options, I am sure they will be accepting changes for at least a week.

Anyone heard anything more about the parking? I was told when I reserved that the upper floors (is more $$$) would get the first floor spots and have the ability to put in a lift. Since then, every time I have asked, they've always been a bit dodgey - "It hasn't been fully decided yet". I guess I should ask again, but I'm wondering if they are being any more specific to others?

I've heard two options from them, but nothing definitive yet -- I think they're trying to gauge demand.

1. The highest value units will get to park on the first floor where the lifts can be placed.

2. Units will get a space on the first floor and a lift if they request one.

Does anyone know if the developer plans to update the official website with info pertaining to updates on construction and progress including pictures? I've noticed that other developments (i.e. Lucas Lofts) provides a status update on their website so I was curious if the Meridian would do the same.

Since I'm out of the St. Louis area for an extended time, I am not able to physically check in periodically on the progress. I think this is something that would be beneficial for potential buyers as well who are doing a cursory review of developments via the internet and can gain a better perspective.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard about the number of units that remain unsold?

Not sure if they do plan on website updates, but it wouldn't hurt to ask eh? Regarding unsold units, many of them are light-well units. Once people can visualize the attractiveness of the balconies, waterfall, etc -- these units will sell, no doubt...

Some people will b**** and say they want lofts with street-level views. That's all fine and good, but the light-well units will be more affordable and provide more options to people.

Not to mention it will be much much more quiet.

I just put a deposit down on unit 606. I'm trying to decide if I want to do it. Anyway, I just wanted to say that you may potentially have a new neighbor.

Congratulations Jacob! Just out of curiosity, when did they say it would be ready? We're in unit 909 and they're saying it should be ready at the end of July, but I'm nervous that it won't be.

For my floor they were saying the end of June to the begining of July. While reading my contract it says September for a estimated closing date. That just might be to give them more breathing room though. I went up and looking around again last week and it seems they are making good progress. Still, June/July seems a big agressive.

Thanks for the information! I think the timelines are a little aggressive too, but at least they're being consistent. Back in September we were looking at a unit on the 7th floor and they told us it would be ready end of June or early July, so at least they haven't changed their estimates.

If you take any pictures of the progress, please post them! I'm in Minnesota until July and the suspense is killing me. :)

Was anyone else here promised a 1st floor parking spot (giving you the option of installing a lift)? I was when I reserved, but now they are evasive about it. Not good. :x

I wasn't promised anything. As far as I know, they're still working scenarios regarding parking & lifts. Hopefully they will come out with a solution that will be equitable to those concerned.... I'm getting a bit antsy too.

Except that in my case, it's the whole reason I bought there! I was told that the larger, more expensive units would get priority. I thought that when it came around to contract time, I would get that in writing. But everytime I bring it up, they are evasive. I must have 2 spots (this is where the lift comes in). This was the only loft that offered that possibilty. If I don't get it, I will probably just have to spin around and sell. Not a desired scenario.

I am positive that if you present the issue to them in terms of that being the only reason that you purchased there, they will make sure that you get a lift. However, I would start talking to the partners sooner rather than later about it.

PostMar 23, 2006#118

I just spoke to the Sales office at the Meridian. They told me that they have been calling all the buyers and relatively few buyers are interested in having a lift so it looks like the problem will work itself out. They are getting pricing on the actual lifts now but it looks like those of you who want them will be taken care of. That certainly isn't a guarantee but I hope it makes you feel a little better.

It does. Thanks!

But why have they been so evasive with me? They kept saying "it hasn't been decided yet", so maybe it was finally decided today?

Just curious, have they given you a ballpark figure on the lifts?

Lifts are typically 10-12K, quite a bit cheaper than purchasing two side by side (or tandem) spots. I'm surprised more folks don't want them as it's huge on resale and if you're considering renting. A heated, secure, space efficient parking spot downtown for 10 grand!? I know, you live downtown, so why do you need two cars? Think guests (unexpected or otherwise) . . .

They said that they had just finished or were just finishing making all of the calls so they probably had just not had a good idea of how big of an issue it would be until they finished surveying all of the tenants. I didn't ask about pricing but I thought I heard them throw around the $10k figure in months previous.

They surveyed us early last week and loftlover's right - the range was 10-12K.

I believe that would be up to the condo association.
