I'm not. What would they hang from them? Only red state mouthbreathers fly the American flag these days. Maybe we could hang some perpetually-burning American flags? Young bohemians would think that was really cool and flock to our city.

I am sure you only posted this to get a reaction. Are you attempting to say that blue state, far left-wing liberals are not patriotic or that they simply hate America (since most of them would obviously rather live elsewhere because, according to them, America is such a horrible country)? Please elaborate on your sophomoric post.

Yes...I guess you really have to use the sarcasm switches on here or risk going over the majority of folk's heads.

That being said, I know of a few city residents that have had their American flag torn down or otherwise vandalized, and several others that have been subjected to snide, mocking remarks from their liberal neighbors - they have been called "nuts", "rednecks", "Republican trash", had "warmonger" scrawled in chalk on their sidewalk, etc. - simply for flying our country's flag! There have also been other incidences of vandalism - broken windows, gates, mailboxes, trampled flowers, that they obviously can't be sure were related, but which have made them consider taking down their flag. A certain neighborhood association even attempted to discourage an acquaintance from flying an American flag on her front porch.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought I was the only one annoyed by people who use "sarcastic" to mean "ironic."

I have a hard time belieiving downtown was so much busier back then, I mean that doesn't make sense. We have so much more parking now

God I hope they didn't park the horse and buggies at a 45 degree angle to the curb: that's too small town.

Is this project still underway? I hope it still comes through. Last few posts say that it'll be up and ready by 2010.

^See the Laurel and Concord threads. Right now, those seem to be the only parts of MX that might proceed in the near future. Construction on the Laurel is supposed to start this year.

You're just talking about the Dillard's Building, right?

Gatechie: I respect the silence, so long as you make sure to post up all the details of whatever's going in there when it goes public. Meanwhile, a few clues in the interim couldn't hurt; pictures are always cool.

Point of Reference: I work with investments for a living. A consensus opinion I've heard from multiple sources is that, once people are confident that the economy is done crapping out, business will boom, that so much money is sitting around, waiting to be reinvested when things are safe. I see something similar with these types of delayed developments, that multiple major projects will kick in once the funding companies are able to better establish their footing for the long term. Be prepared should multiple projects be announced close to each other within the next couple of seasons.

Yes it is "just" the Dillard's building. Can't spill any beans right now but I can say we all can have confidence that demo phase can proceed in the near future.
