I assumed that too expat.... Now you tell me if Im being sarcastic.
First they tear down our beautiful Century building. AND THEN THIS! I just cant take much more of this godless destruction of our beautiful architectural heritage.
Ya know behind RBB's moniker the Wainright, Id have to rank the skybridge next as greatest in STL
It was built in the 80's... that has to have the advantage of giving it a "historic" label therefore protecting it as a landmark. (Historic Land Mark of Disgrace) That way St. Louis can always be reminded of it and never do something that awful again.
Washuslouser wrote:If the bridge is coming down, i think they might as well do it in a lavish = stylish fashion with an apache helicopter flying down washington (requsite streets lined parade-style) to a huge crowd roar as it proceeds to fire missiles into the brige amid more cheering and beer drinking. What with more and movie movies being filmed here i think it would be a great publicity stunt for the area- if a little ott.
Thoughts...
Life imitates online art: Friday afternoon about 2:30, an Apache buzzed Wash Ave about 14th Street, went west and circled back up the west mall. I'm guessing it landed by the Soldiers Memorial.
I think there needs to be a really cool sneaker store somewhere downtown in the MX. Something offering the exclusive ultra cool kicks. R-Sole in the Loop is a pretty good model for the type of thing I'm talking about, but I would love something more along the lines of what Undefeated is to L.A. This single store could be a HUGE draw for the entire shopping district. A store that releases really cool exclusive shoes in limited editions. I'm not exactly a sneaker-head, but this is the kind of store that tends to hit home for most urban populations, not to mention can garner a loyal group of patrons if you do it right. Wanna draw shoppers from the subburbs? ^That's how you do it. Trendy, hip stores and boutiques. How bout an AG jeans store downtown? A North-Face store? Dreaming a little now but a Brooks Brothers? A new Sam Cavato? Tom Ford? These stores will grab the attention of the entire metro, and SELL. Just hope Pyramid and General Growth are thinking the same way I am.
Would also love to see a Schnucks and a Wallgreens.
I agree, that's why I said it needs to be done right, as many are not. The good ones last. That's what I want. Like undefeated in L.A. if you have ever been. Great store. Pipe dream for an StL expansion though.
I have to be there tomorrow as i will be there with my work. I will let all those who cant be there know how it goes on wednesday evening after i also do my stupid end of semester presentation.
