Ed Golterman keeps demanding parking for the Opera House. Does anyone know where he expects it to be built? Why isn't the one attached to the Scottrade and the other lots nearby enough?

When I saw the Peabody thread at the top of the Active Forum list, I knew Ed Golterman would somehow be mentioned in one of the new comments. I thought maybe he was tying the Megan Boken murder or Hurricane Isaac to the opera house...
A recent Beacon article (The Peabody: Do more venues mean a bigger pie?) providing an overview of the Peabody's first year touches on parking issues:
As the Peabody heads deeper into its second year with offerings including the touring debut of “Flashdance -- the Musical,” it has only one real difficulty to address: parking.
“When there’s a Scottrade and an Opera House event on the same night, parking may be challenging,” McKee said.
The problem is not a lack of parking spaces, but a dearth of information about their location.
“We need better signage, better directions on the webpage, about where the parking spaces are,” McKee said.

I saw Widespread Panic here last night. Man, the Peabody is a gem. We're really lucky to have such nice historic venues. If you haven't had a chance to see a show there you should add it to your StL bucket list.

I agree. I wish they had more bookings. It's a great venue and a short walk to Wash Ave for beers before and after.

I'll add that the staff is very good. You can tell the ushers, bartenders and waitresses are well trained. Very polite and professional.

I think it's good that the Blues are now all in on Stifel as it's always better for a company to own real estate, meaning they're committed to the area and it could make it more in the Blues' interest to make the area surrounding Enterprise better.
Otherwise I don't think it will have too big of ramifications. Just the Blues seeing value in Stifel and acting on it.

This. There is development opportunity around Enterprise Center that would really benefit downtown. Hopefully, the Blues are interested in throwing money into it. Underrated point. You can bet some suburban development like Downtown Chesterfield will put he feelers out to see if they can poach the Blues. Hollywood Casino would be my worry. I could very well see those developers go after the Blues considering the practice center has been out there for a while. They have the land. Already, Hollywood Casino has hurt Enterprise Center badly in recent years for shows. The development has really harmed entertainment downtown. Hollywood Casino amphitheater is always going to get shows because of the evil Live Nation/TIcketmaster monopoly pushes their acts out there because they own the place and make all the money. The same thing happens in other cities that have Live Nation owned sheds. But I don't think the Blues will be leaving Enterprise for a decade or so. The Capitals/Wizards effort for a new arena collapsed and the 76ers demand for their own arena is in trouble.

would be fairly easy to put in place of the RV park and leverage the existing parking at the casino. The one aspect of this is usually parking revenue is key to the bussiness model but the casino will not want pay parking. Wow, I really like this idea. It would definitely compete for acts and give activity to the east riverfront. There's enough parking lots that I believe they could distribute access points. I do wonder if the noise would create a major issue.
If not, it'd be awesome to have an attraction like that on the East Riverfront, and with transit access.

I would think just north of the MLK Bridge around Missouri and B street would be good if the casino didn't want it on their existing property. Moving it further from rail and interstate and into the surrounding vegitation might mitigate noise issues. It's also far enough from the casino to have its own pay parking while still close enough to drive traffic and have easy access to Metro.
