Greetings,
Ive lurked here a bit and finally decided to jump in. Im out in st chuck and trying buy a place in the city. Im no stranger to message boards, and dont mistake my humo(u)r as anything else, a fun forum is a busy forum, is a friendly forum.
Was facinated with the idea of renovating a building in st louis in the early 90s, left town and have recently came back. I love old stuff, i believe that buying new is for suckers, for about everything but motor oil, socks, and underwear. Whats the point of recycling cans if your not gonna reuse a house?
Its hard to believe how much has changed in st louis... And stayed the same. There has been some real developments in certain parts of the city, while at the same time the amount of buildings that have been demolished in the last 10 years is mindboggling.
It seems there is still opportunity, but just as big developers have taken over st charles county, its apparent there are a few groups that are taking over the renovation biz in st louis. While it seem that these groups are doing great things for the city... For whatevever reason i find it a bit intimidating.
I almost bought a single story bungalow that had been gutted last feb, but backed out after i found that the prior owner had done a bunch of work without pulling permits, i got kinda spooked. I totally regret it. Im trying to stay small with this "project" as i like to call it, seems you could get over your head in no time.
Im really interested in FPSE, among other places. I have had my eye on that area for a few years, and have finally decided i must jump in, just gotta do it!!!
I was down there yesterday looking at a house and i drove by and abandoned one that i would do about anything for. It was one of the most beautiful houses ive ever seen in st louis.
I gotta get outta the burbs!!! Ah!!!!
Well thats a bit about me...
I look forward to my time on this forum and some great advice. Hope i can offer some advice as well.
