So, what brings you here? it's sad because i lived in saint louis for most of my life but never really appreciated how unique and beautiful it is until a few years ago (after living in syracuse for a short time, coincidentally - no offense). i was in highschool when the eagleton was completed yet i have NO recollection of it being built ... how pathetic is that? sadly, my world at the time was fenton... ugh. anyway, i'll be away for a few years but i can't wait to return, buy some property, and help out with the renaissance! (i'm also recruiting out of towners and trying to get my parents to move back in from fenton. GOD i hate fenton. no offense.)

What part of the STL are you from? grew up in south city (near morganford and carondelet) and fenton. lived in south city (near chippewa and kingshighway) for a few years and then in benton park for a few years. currently in school in charlottesville, VA.

Hello, I'm Cookie. I

I'm always on this site but have never been able to comment on anything due to registration issues...SO glad the problems are solved.

I live in the CWE and research business changes in the metro area for the STLBJ. Everyone here seems really nice, so a big hello to all. :D

First time caller, long time listener.

I found this website online at work. I think I was looking for info on the suburban trak or something. I, like many people from St. Louis, have this strange tendency to obsess about the city. It's definitely because we want so bad for it to do well. It's probably like having a kid in school that gets all c's.

I grew up in the cwe, moved to Cape girardeau for college, then went to Tulane for a master's in architecture in 2002, and just moved San Rafael, Ca. I'd really like to come back to the city, if I can convince my wife.

I'm an architect.

I went to Metro High when it was at Washington and Kingshighway.

Yeah...I'll definitely disappoint on that one. I have to say though, my favorite part of this forum is when someone posts a sarcastic reply to someone else who's being serious; then the person who's being serious doesn't get it and starts in with a bunch of stuff that most of us forgot from college. Then it turns into a battle of who can be more logical. Meanwhile, the delay between composition and actual posting enables two other conversations to go on with other posters. Great fun. Great, great fun.

So, what brings you here? I moved to St. Louis in 1993 from Milwaukee for a job with a local bank. I now work for an international bank with a corporate trust office in St. Louis and travel to several locations in the West and Southeast US monthly for work. My grandfather was an architect and I've always had a love of architecture. I found this site a couple years ago when I was considering moving downtown, as there was a blog for the the building in which I was planning on buying a loft.

What part of the STL are you from? I owned a condo in CWE for 7 years before buying a downtown loft a year ago in the building right next to the one I work in. I sold my car and now use my bicycle and/or metrolink for transportation and rent a car once a month to run errands I can't do otherwise. This system has worked well and saves me over $600 a month in car payments, insurance, parking, gas and maintenance.

How old are you? 58. Probably about the oldest one on here.

What do you do, or study? I went to the University of Minnesota for a BA in humanities with a minor in art history. I then got a law degree from Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee.

(The Ultimate St Louis "Get to Know You" question) What High School did you go to? Public schools in small towns in Wisconsin and Minnesota.[/b]

I'm also 58...will be 59 in December. So, I may hold the record for oldest. And, I also was born and raised in a small town in Minnesota... Graduated from high school in Albert Lea, Minnesota. I also have a BA degree from the University of Minnesota, mine is in economics. Downtown Fan and I may have run into oneanother at some point in time... Small world. My wife and I will be moving into the Syndicate in November. I'm currently a transportation planner for the Minnesota DOT but will retire in December. Then I'll be looking for a part time job in St. Louis to occupy some of my time and energy.

So, what brings you here? An obsession with the city of St. Louis. Most people know me as "the guy who is going to move to St Louis...someday" and others probably know me as "that guy who says he will move here, but never will." But I promise you, I will!

What part of the STL are you from? I am again job-hunting in St Louis (or surrounding) and I plan on getting a townhouse with my wife and son in the metro east.

How old are you? 22 years.
