^ I look forward to seeing the upcoming streetscaping for lower Washington (as part of Arch redo).
Both the movie theater and the wine bar located at the MX each won an A-List Award from St. Louis Magazine.

What's the deal/status with the streets-cape project for the MX District?

Stifel Nicolaus and Spinnaker are funding the local match for the project along Washington from 4th to 7th. Last I heard, construction was planned for winter 2014-15.arch city wrote:What's the deal/status with the streets-cape project for the MX District?

Last I heard (a month or two ago), construction was planned for the winter.
Are there any design drawings or descriptions for the streetscape project? Sounds great.Presbyterian wrote:Last I heard (a month or two ago), construction was planned for the winter.

Not to my knowledge. From what I can tell, it sounds like there might have been an earlier design by HOK, which was scrapped. Not sure who the new designer is, or whether they have even been selected yet. Seems like the decision date on the RFP was summer 2014.innov8ion wrote:Are there any design drawings or descriptions for the streetscape project? It would be nice to see any streetscape improvements extend a block to the west. The sidewalks and trees around the U.S. Bank Tower aren't looking too great these days.

New update: Spring 2015 construction. And it will extend east to tie into the arch grounds project.

I'll be glad when all the streets get facelifts. driving on them is worse than driving on a gravel roads

There's a construction crew framing out walls at the 7th and Locust entrance. I heard a rumor that it's going to be a gym, but can't confirm it. If true, it would be great - especially if it's a 24-hour gym.

That would be nice. As you said, a 24-hour gym would be even better. Any sign of activity at that corner would be most welcome. Right now, it's utterly depressing in my opinion.debaliviere wrote:There's a construction crew framing out walls at the 7th and Locust entrance. ^ yup. Walgreen's or CVS would be the dream but I think just about anything would be a boost. Of course another fitness place opened up not long ago further down Locust... I guess my dream for a new state-of-the-art downtown Y is becoming more elusive!
Another nice spot that should be coming online before too long will be the Bailey's BBQ joint at the old Bussone's.... that will give that rather quiet stretch of Olive a bit more energy as well. I also wish Tanner B's was still around

If its a new gym i pray that its a club fitness thats where i workout at the one in brentwood but i work downtown so instead driving to brentwood i could walk to it if it be a club fitness fingers crossed...
A gym, a blues museum, and a new streetscape will be great additions to this great stretch of Wash. Ave.
