Is it odd that we haven't heard anything about a new Schlafly brewery? I assume they are still contracting beer in Wisconsin. Has their growth stalled with all the competition in their segment?

Nope - Schlafly did a remodel of their Bottleworks brewery that allowed them to increase their production a ton. http://fox2now.com/2016/06/01/expansion ... maplewood/
I would imagine they don't have plans for a new brewery for awhile now?

I was on their tour a couple weeks ago. They made it sounds like the only thing they had to contracted to Wisconsin lately was cans last summer, if I remember correctly. They were very unhappy with the quality so they quit them for this summer. They might have room in thier new expansion for cans. They hadn't decided.
I believe they put the new brewery plans on ice when they brought in a new executive to run the show. Can't recall his name but wasn't to long before they had announced their Maplewood expansion and new brewery went dead quiet. A new brewery would have been pretty awesome but the business model/number crunching probably made a lot more sense with the Maplewood expansion considering the ever expanding number of brewpubs and craft beers out there.pattimagee wrote:Nope - Schlafly did a remodel of their Bottleworks brewery that allowed them to increase their production a ton. http://fox2now.com/2016/06/01/expansion ... maplewood/

I also wonder if they will do some outsource locally with brewhub facility going into Chesterfield.

Center Ice Brewery has signed a lease at 3120 Olive in Midtown. Close to Pappy's and Urban Chestnut.

nice! sounds like a place that could be near Scottrade, but midtown will do!
Oooh, that's the Dinks Parrish Laundry building. Joe Holleman did a writeup of this building and the Turtle Building last fall.

That's a fantastic building, and I'm excited to see it used again. Let's hope they've got a solid plan in place.

^ great building... I can see this working there, too. And I get the Center Ice bit now...
“Our tasting room will be built out of the Old Arena from St. Louis,” Albers said on the Kickstarter page. “The bar and fixtures will be built from the reclaimed wood. The Old Arena was the original venue for the professional hockey team and was torn down in 1999. This is our way of paying homage to St. Louis hockey history.”

Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee did something similar with stuff from the old Brewers stadium there. They use it extensively and are roughly Schlafly output sized.
I don't really bother trying to keep up with all the new microbrews anymore, there's simply too many. But this is one that I could definitely see myself frequenting if I still lived back home. Awesome concept.
debaliviere wrote:From what I've heard about Six Row, their closing was more indicative of the owners' lack of commitment to operating a brewery, as opposed to a reflection on the local microbrewery market. Fortunately, their head brewer was hired by Pappo's, which uses the Six Row facility to brew for all of its restaurants, so I guess everything worked out well.wabash wrote:^Six Row closed and I think Morgan Street closed (?). But yeah, the market/industry seems to be pretty healthy.
Agreed.debaliviere wrote:The Senn location seems pretty meh to me.
I think Morgan Street is still open. I hope they can find a buyer - the restaurant/brewery is nice, and I believe they have a canning line.
IDK, but I consider Morgan Street a bar, not a microbrewer...I guess I never saw a focus on beer itself there...like a non-chain version of Granite City.
Perennial may be the biggest gem to draw beer geeks to visit StL though.

^ Just curious... Did Dinzler Equipment move or did they go out of business? I see on their website, they are still claiming the same address as the property Rockwell purchased from them.

They might want to have a conversation about their logo. That sign looks more like Rackwell to me than Rockwell, and that could potentially lead to people having a hard time finding them if they're trying to search for something on the web after driving past. Not the world's biggest stinking deal, but it does seem like a potentially misleading design choice, and it would be quite easy to correct at this stage. All that said, more good beer is always a good thing.
Are they going for VaporWave or Panama Jacks?
I feel like that rendering needs about 30 Harleys parked out front.

Logo kinda reminds me of Miami Vice, which is actually cool in a weird way.
Looks like there is still an active business between this location and the new food truck park location, a company called St. Louis Scale Co. Wish they were right next to each other and not broken up.

Anyone know what's up with Cathedral Square's plans for a home?

I think it's needs a couple Honda Goldwings and maybe a Jazz scooter. I'll be wearing by SURF STYLE pullover when it opens!shadrach wrote:Are they going for VaporWave or Panama Jacks?

I hear a lot of nothing.STLrainbow wrote:Anyone know what's up with Cathedral Square's plans for a home?
That rendering is a bit rough...not much to see on the architecture front. I agree with symphonicpoet about the logo...just overall...and not just because the "o" is hard to read!
I will definitely try their beer though and look forward to checking it out! Ok, just checked their website and it isn't the usual hop-fest circa 2000 microbrew menu...or trendy sours...yay, that's exciting!!!
