Have to agree on loss of Pevely. I do think that the failure of Iron Hill in near term is a benefit to the area in that SSM can start filling in & around the garage/the old Pevely Site to build up campus & density again at the corner starting with the Ambulatory surgery center. Felt that Iron Hill would be partially built in part with competing medical office/space.wabash wrote: ↑Apr 13, 2021^^Agreed. Any goodwill they still had was lost from the Pevely debacle. The failure of the Iron Hill project and now the talk of a QuikTrip at Grand & Lafayette aren't doing anything to build it back up.

Even if it's a terrible space for a medical office it could be a lovely redevelopment opportunity. (So long as SLU actually does sell it and doesn't just knock it down like they so love doing in their own neighborhood.) It's a great looking old building in a decent location. Could make nice apartments, maybe.dweebe wrote: ↑Jun 30, 2021I knew someone that worked in that building. Everyone hated it.Laife Fulk wrote: ↑Jun 29, 2021The 1755 S Ground (what SSM & SLU currently call the South Campus) has been planned to be moved out of and sold for quite some time now. Was never really an ideal space for medical offices.

Those arrow slits are too wide to provide adequate cover. And there's way too many choke points on that ground floor security perimeter. Need to cut those down to about a tenth of what's shown, and position boiling oil and spike traps over the remaining openings.
As it is, break out the narrow bits of 1980's tinted glass, and attackers can literally just walk right in...

^They might just have enough overhang for some murder holes. But they really need to get rid of the greenery. And in this modern day and age where every attacker is likely to have at least a drone for aerial support they really need some better sky arcs. (Unless they intend to put AAA on the roof. SLUSAMs? Giant friggin' lasers?)
SLUSAMs? Are they going to launch water and shaving cream condoms, err...balloons? Do Sammies even have a chapter at SLU, or at any Jesuit University for that matter...?symphonicpoet wrote: ↑Jul 01, 2021^They might just have enough overhang for some murder holes. Hey, I know, maybe SLU could revive the Iron Hill moniker, and set up the SLUSAMs as a home-grown version of the Iron Dome. Could also then get some use out of all those Iron Hill - Coming Soon signs they had printed up...
$20M building permit application submitted for "exterior alterations per plans." Anyone know what it is?
^ That new building is supposed to be like $20+ million isn’t it? You wouldn’t think that would be an alteration though…
SSM Health seeks new headquarters as St. Louis companies weigh office needs

This would actually be a fairly sizable HQ. They should renovate Firmin Desloge tower for their new space.SSM, which rents all of its non-clinical space, has about 400,000 square feet of offices scattered across the region, a figure that’s roughly stayed the same since before the pandemic. It is seeking 200,000 to 300,000 square feet for a new headquarters to consolidate all of its administrative employees in one location. Its search, Kaiser said, coincided with the pandemic.

I assume they'll end up with that Wildhorse or Clayton development that Clayco arm is doing.sc4mayor wrote: ↑May 16, 2022SSM Health seeks new headquarters as St. Louis companies weigh office needs

I’m hoping they end up building at the failed Iron Hill spot. Any news on that front?

I bet they consolidate to another random business park in the County. Their current HQ isn't flashy or even that visible unless you were looking for it. Which is the norm it seems for STL healthcare HQs. Like Ascension and their HQ randomly hidden behind the Drury hotel and in between two Parking Spot garages in Edmundson. BJC's are on their campus and in Cortex, and Mercy has theirs in an older building along Outer Forty Road in Chesterfield. There's really no reason to justify spending premium dollars on a shiny healthcare system HQ.
My $1.00 bet would be they take over more of Northwest Plaza, where they have (or at least had) a ton of space for their back offices (like patient billing, scheduling, etc).

Their Virtual Care building in Chesterfield at Clarkson isn’t bad looking. It’s a bit tucked away though.
SSM announced that a new Cardinal Glennon Hospital will be built next to the new SLU Hospital at the corner of Grand and Chouteau. The groundbreaking took place today.
Nice to see that corner developed, even if the site plan isn’t as urban as I’d like. any idea what will become of the old complex?

I guess I'm not that upset about them wanting room for parking at a children's hospital, but why couldn't the building come to the curb and hide the parking from the street?
Edit: My fear is that the old complex is going to become surface parking as well.
