Over the last several months, I have begun to notice that SkyHouse is the downtown residential project that people who don't already live or work downtown talk most about. Good marketing? Good ads? Good product? Probably all those things.

I love this project. If for no other reason that it is a breath of fresh air to see a push-the-envelope style project that seems to know exactly where it is going with no questions asked. As excited as I want to be about BPV right now, reading the onslaught of negativity/realism is a giant buzzkill. BPV is obviously much bigger and frought with more complexities, but knowing that there will be a new modern tower rising on Washington offers a nice mental cushion.

They are selling, and who's to blame a real estate company for taking advantage of an underbuilt market?

Edit: took your last post as sarcasm...might be wrong. Hell I don't know.

With the news of retail lately it makes me wonder what Skyhouse is seeking for their ground floor:

Ran across these pics below...having trouble with them...can someone help?

Those images will never display if they were attachments to an email. They need to be hosted somewhere else.

I'd be happy to help, where are you pulling them from?

First thing I can suggest is right clicking on whatever image you're wanting to post, go to properties and pull the url listed next to "Address" or "Location".

*edit: Ah, didn't think about them coming from an e-mail. Good call Matt. In that case, like he said, you'll need to post them to an image hosting site like Photobucket or ImageShack. You'll need to save them to your desktop, and then upload them to one of the sites, then pull the link and post it.

Does anyone know how pre-sales are going? How many more units have to be sold in order to break ground? What an exciting project. Between the Skyhouse and the Roberts Tower, downtown St. Louis is going to look pretty sleek.

I wish Midtown could enjoy the growth that downtown and the CWE have been experiencing.

Back before this little sub-prime incident they needed 40% pre-sold to begin formal construction of the actual building itself. With the way the lending market has gone, I am not sure if that figure still remains the same. Midtown is experiencing small growth with Grand Center and the like, but the city starts and ends with CWE and Downtown. If these areas continue to thrive, midtown will undoubtedly join the party sooner rather than later, especially if Wachovia decides to make any major adjustments to the A.G. campus.

That latest rendering looks amazing! This is going to fit in PERFECTLY on Washington ave., and it just keeps getting better and better every time we see it!

Edit: And with the 2 month clean-up schedule that I was told needed to be completed before construction can actually begin, we are moving ahead right on schedule for that 1st of the year construction timeline. Great news!

I live in Chicago now, but thinking about moving to St. Louis for the cheaper cost of living. I could never live in the suburbs, and would definately consider buying a condo downtown, esp Sky House. But, coming from Chicago, one thing that I get nervous about is how dead it will be at night when everyone goes back to the suburbs after work. Will there be grocery stores within walking distance? Do people even walk on the streets at night? Will I get mugged? Are there young people around?

I don't know...it's just that living in Lakeview, Chicago, I'm used to having a lot of people around and need that vibe somewhat. I hear a lot of people are moving back to St. Louis in hopes that its going through a metamorphosis and could possibly an historic turn-around era for the city. I just hope that it IS one and not over-hype...given the negativity and pessimism of so many people in the progress of the city, especially older conservative generations. I hope that something like Sky House will be the beginning of something great/ continuation of such high rises.

Skyhouse is right in the heart of the downtown residential neighborhood. If anywhere downtown will have that feel, Skyhouse would be it. I'd recommend looking around the forum a little more. You'll be able to see how the activity downtown compares to what you are looking for.

phoaddict,

I currently live in Lakeview myself but am a native of St Louis. I think that if you are looking for an area similar to your situation, you should consider checking out neighborhoods like the Central West End or something off of South Grand.
