I'm going to venture a guess at dinner business is down 25% at Russell's since Grapeseed opened....just an observation from walking by each night between 6-8pm walking the dog.

I've been watching it off and on this morning and they seem to have covered all the businesses- great publicity for the neighborhood.

Also- Copper Pig at the Home Eco building has a Conditional Use Hearing on 11/20 for a full drink/restaurant.

I had dinner at Grapeseed Wednesday and left impressed by the food and drinks. It's a great addition to the neighborhood.

Copper Pig will be a gastropub focusing on Asian street food according to the SHNA....which is a headscratcher to me- gastropub usually means high end food and beer and street food is not that...

PostJan 12, 2015#86

newly renovated building across from the Mack is now for sale (the southern portion of the building is empty and northern has a print shop) tho inside they still have a huge "COMING 2014 OFFICE/RETAIL Space" :D

PostJan 26, 2015#87

A lot of action in SoHA
Keller Apothecary will be relocating this spring to the former Manzo's Deli space at 5346 Devonshire; Seven24 Construction, a new startup, will lease offices at the former Raineri Construction offices at 5400 Devonshire; and The Copper Pig, a new gastropub featuring an Asian street food menu, hopes to open at the former Home Eco space at 4611 Macklind.

PostFeb 10, 2015#88

I think Copper Pig is all set with liquor license and they already have a approved occupancy permit...just need to finish the build out...I would guess probably May opening.

Manzo's deli is being cleaned out and some shelving being put in- Keller is probably looking at a April/May move in.

PostApr 04, 2015#89

Keller Pharmacy is now open at macklind and Devonshire

Copper Pig has all the permits and licenses- bit more build out left

New Bosnian restaurant opened recently (not on macklind but close by)

Copper Pig had some water line issues but they are back on track and it seems like their goal is to be open for Macklind Days in late September

Copper Pig is now open. The renovations were extensive and the place looks great inside. Interesting new permit request for 5351 Murdoch (aka 4620-4614 Macklind) that now houses the print shop:
WHY WOULD WE NOT LLC Building 10/26/2015 OFFICE $300,000.00 Description: INT/EXT ALT (LOWER LEVEL) PER PLANS
$300,000 is a big chunk of change for this property. New owners are listed as Why Would We Not at 17280 N OUTER 40 RD STE 200, which is the address for a financial management company called Precision Wealth Management. The LLC is registered by Scott Malin, a financial manager at Lathrop and Gage in Clayton. No clear connection to the previous owner, Shawn Gawrys.

Been wondering that as well the last few times we were at Russell's. Also, Russell said the upstairs seating at his place should be done in 3 weeks when we were in there Saturday.

The entire building had a extensive renovation 2 years ago. In one half (about 35% of building) has been a print shop for past year and other half for sale for past 6 months. I guess it finally sold

This is the print shop

He has done some work for national companies too, like Trader Joes

These folks are coming an office at that location....my source at city hall says. :D

PostNov 04, 2015#98

From SOHA Yahoo group
The building was sold to Darin Robinson who is the founder of Precision Wealth Strategies. He's going to be moving his financial planning offices to Macklind and investing a considerable amount in the already improved property to make it a first class space. One Time Supply will stay as the northern tenant. Here is his website. I'll let you know more once I speak with him in detail.
