Are they not aware of the SoHa Bar & Grill on Hampton? Seems like a poor choice of name.

That's not the final name either. Just something they're are considering. And I don't think the sign will be there, more like the northern portion. South portion has office/retail space coming 2014, northern section will be a restaurant/bar (it was suppose to be Irish but they pulled out) so now the owner of the building will run a "American food" type of place

Several complaints that the Mack already does "American-style" food. Some people grumbled about wanting a wine bar. Do they not realize Russell's is a wine bar? The Macklind strip has American pub grub, wine bar, deli/beer emporium, and soon small plates locally sourced. Mexican is well-served on Hampton and Kingshighway. I'm thinking Irish or Italian (pizza!) would be a good addition, so I hope they do the brick oven pizza concept.

I wish the Mack would re do that sidewalk. What's the deal with the 2 levels.
About 20 months ago the Mack had a plan for a backyard patio but the issue was it wasn't in their backyard, one of the employees lives in house behind it and the patio would have been in the backyard of the house. City zoning told them the lots would have to be combined and re zoned

Grapeseed is moving really slow on the reno...i think first they were going to be open in Feb, then April and right now i cant see it open til latter part of the summer....I think the owner and a few friends are doing the reno instead of a professional company...they havent even started the back or front patio.

Building across the Mack is the same deal, i dont see that opening until late summer at best....most of the building doesnt even have a floor, just dirt. They also havent started on the redo of the sidewalks or the patio.

Grapeseed's owner said they had problems with their general contractor. The other building doesn't have a tenant, so they're slow-walking the finish.

Hopefully they can find a new one and get moving. 2 weeks ago I was walking by it and the wind blew something off the roof or the window and it missed my head by 5 feet, either a piece of roof or a ceramic planter....anyway, any news on Deli next to Big River and 5400 Devonshire?

Manzos stopped operating as a retail business but it continues to do wholesale trade.

Looks like the place across from the Mack will be pouring a new sidewalk and patio tomorrow or Thursday, looks like today they dug up the old sidewalk and put down gravel.

Sidewalks were poured 2 weeks ago., patio still gravel. Grapeseed (new wine bar) has start on their front and back patio...very exciting time in SoHA, walked around with my dog tonight and people were out at the Mack sidewalk patio, Russell's back patio was full, people walking dogs, kids playing basketball in the ally, the way a neighborhood should be

Grapeseed now has a sign up. Looks nice. The building across the Mack has all the sidewalks done, smaller of the 2 places appears to be going thru a tenant finish
Grapeseed has about $100,000 worth of building permits and the 4615 macklind has 85k

I remember Ron Coleman (neighborhood president) saying something about a t-shirt shop a while back. Guess they got the tenant.

PostAug 05, 2014#41

Front patio, some nice detail on that fence...it has grapevines in the center... the back patio is about 2.5 bigger then this one at the front

There is a sign on the door now "Onetime supply company" with a logo too...inside looks nice. Not sure if they are open yet...
Anyone know the results of the liquor license hearing for the space next door?

Still looks like that today. tho down the street Grapeseed has opened (soft opening) looks very nice inside and out.

5121 Macklind - a car window tinting business has opened and they are building an addition to the building

the building left of the Mack is going thru a $20,000 interior work.

There is enough business presence on the street now to push for a repave/better sidewalks ect.

The people seeking the liquor license had enough signatures but they pulled out because of neighbor opposition. Currently seeking restaurant tenants for final build out.

So they had 51% of people within 1000 feet? why pull out then? I did see one house that had a sign to oppose to license but that's about it.

Wonder if the business owners and the neighborhood association can work with the city to apply for a STP grant with east west gateway to repave and fix up/expand the sidewalks on macklind from wherry to down past Stans Bar on Itaska

Could bring some money to the table with a 1% charge on business' receipts and homeowners in the neighborhood on their trash/water bill.

blue x = unoccupied business space
red x= existing business.

red from the top down
Dwyer Custom painting (storage and paper work office)
Big River Running
The Mack Bar and Grill
Onetime Supply Company
Pending Restaurant
Russell's
Macklind Ave Deli
Grapeseed (opened this past weekend)
SOHA Art Gallery
Tom Bess Auto repair
Stans bar
Car Tinting place.

blue X

space next to Big River- use to be a deli

First Stone is no longer there, building has a for lease sign- future use is probably another real estate office

and the last blue X use to be Home Eco- the building has an active $20k reno permit.

5401-5407 Lansdowne which is at the entrance to the neighborhood- really bugs me....I wish they would do more to fix up the building on the outside and some landscaping.... its currently being used as a Mosque- which is great really nice people. there was also a Office Space (online sales) occupancy permit issued on 9/03 for this space.
