I got a good look yesterday, and again today, and it definitely looks like there is just a protective cover on the streak. It seemed to be somewhat see through, like a fabric or paper.

I agree. For all the "crap" (pun intended) the streak has taken, I found it pretty amusing that people would really think that's what it would look like at completion. Do you really think a Four Seasons Hotel would settle for that? No. You just have to have a little partience and let them unveil it when it's time.
I remember years ago when the Interco Tower was built in Clayton, the aluminum cladding was covered with some kind of bright blue protective material. People were freaking out, let me tell ya!
Pinnacle gives credit to two design firms on the Lumiere Place website, Brayton & Hughes and Marnell Corrao, as interior designer and architect, respectively. Neither of these firms make any mention of this project on their websites, yet they do show other projects that are currently under construction.
Anyone else think that is a bit odd?

Yes, but as you point out, protective material is usually some bright color, like blue, yellow, or green, e.g. the SLU Research Building. I have never seen it come in baby sh*t brown. And why would you be able to see through some parts of the protective coating and not others? Isn't it possible that the streak will appear brown during the day and white at night - through lighting or the "light box effect" that pinnacle keeps referring to on their website.Framer wrote:I remember years ago when the Interco Tower was built in Clayton, the aluminum cladding was covered with some kind of bright blue protective material. Anyway, I have no doubt this building will look great at night and the interior will be stunning, if the designers' portfolios are any indication. My concern is over the daytime appearance of the casino hotel complex.

sure...however I only see finished products on both websites. No link for projects currently under construction.
They're apparently finishing up work on the exterior of the two-story section seeing as how they're putting down topsoil. And I keep checking the webcam daily to see if there's any indication of whether or not the combover will in fact be added. The glass is almost all the way up, so hopefully we'll know soon.
Have we heard any recent projections as to exactly when it'll be ready to open?

I heard something from a relative that it might be open by or around New Years. But that might be a stretch

Sorry if someone else has brought this up, but they need somebody to go up there with a bottle of glass cleaner and clean the darn lens. It is getting really hard to see a clear image.
BTW dont forget the paper towels!

Pinnacle announces first two restaurants
Pinnacle Entertainment announced Friday the first two of seven restaurants scheduled to open at Lumiere Place, Pinnacle's $495 million casino, hotel and entertainment district in downtown slated to open by the end of the year.
Burger Bar will offer a menu of gourmet burgers -- including a $60 burger that features Kobe beef and foie gras among other ingredients.
Executive Chef Hubert Keller said in statement: "We are thrilled to bring our enormously successful Burger Bar brand from Las Vegas to St. Louis."
Sleek, a steakhouse and lounge, will be the second restaurant to open. Sleek features Kobe beef steaks along with veal, pork and signature chicken and seafood dishes. Sleek's lounge will mix food and cocktails with its plasma-screen TV's and DJ station.
"The addition of Sleek gives Lumière Place another outstanding restaurant option for visitors," Pinnacle Entertainment Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Lee said in a statement. "Sleek's menu offers something for everyone. When you pair Chef Keller's architecture of food with the stylish design of the restaurant and ultra lounge, St. Louis has an instant culinary and entertainment hit."
Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: PNK) is a Las Vegas-based company that owns and operates casinos in Missouri, Nevada, Louisiana, Indiana and Argentina.

I don't care where the cow came from, for $60.00, that burger better include all-you-can-drink access to the bar!
^ 30 of those dollars go to pay the massueses... the cow's massueses.

Looks like I'm going to be buying a $60 burger, really for no other reason than to be able to say I've eaten a $60 burger. Maybe this is how they stay in business?
In California, for towns with "Santa" in the name (Santa Cruz, Barbara, etc.) the joke is Santa in spanish means "Expensive Hamburgers".
Maybe a name change to "Santa Louis" would help sell burgers.

My friend tried to make reservations for New Years at the hotel, they told him that the hotel will not be open by then, but the casino will.
You do know that kobe cows drink beer and are given massages, right? There's your alcohol, buddy! Anyway, burgers like these are just for marketing mainly. No doubt they don't sell many, but it can build a buzz.Framer wrote:I don't care where the cow came from, for $60.00, that burger better include all-you-can-drink access to the bar!
I'm sure they'll still sell normal burgers too. Don't ya'll get your panties in a bunch.
