A new website - nothing extraordinary but new. Definitely shows what the design is supposed to do.

I really HATE the base. It is fugly along w/ the seafoam green building. The design is nice but the seafoam green looks cheap.

It's ugly but -- we have a lot of brick/brown/biege buildings. I like the addition of color, this may not be the right color.

I don't think the base will be all that prominent - won't it kind of disappear with the highways/etc. Certainly we won't see it from the West and across the river I don't think you'll see much either. I've been impressed that the main streetlevel entrance is oriented towards the Landing and is on a proper scale. I think the building will be cool when lit up. We just need a couple more 30+ story buildings downtown and then the few we have won't stick out as much. I just arrived in Boston and there are plenty of hideous office buildings downtown - real 1980's-90's mistakes, but they don't stick out too bad because of the variety. The first new tower in St. Louis will be very prominent (and Lumiere's location will always be), but a couple more glass towers will make it seem better.

Certainly not what I expected, but I appreciate this as well.

The base sucks but at least the tower looks far better than the Ameristar!

From the "fact sheet" on their website.

Design Approach

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, the design will inorporate open space, yet retain an extremely contemporary ambiance. The look and feel of the project overall will be warm, urban, modern, hip and sophisticated.

Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright in what way. They appear to be a little confused - on their website they list the Gateway Arch and FLW as their inspiration. The Arch reference is a stretch, but the FLW reference is ridiculous.

FLW designed buildings. The casino is a building. Ergo, it is inspired by FLW.

You have to love some of the marketing words thrown around by the developers um marketing people these days. describing something as "chic" is my favorite.

I believe that refers to the entrance with the cantilevered canopy:

I just took a look at the webcam, and steel is now being placed on top for the final floors. Appears that all of the concrete has now been poured and we should be able to see the Wing or whatever that thing is take shape soon.

for some reason this building reminds me of a drive-in movie screen.

i hope this is a catalyst for new development around the landing for new taller buildings.

I took a short trip across the river a couple of days ago, and noticed that the tower is now tall enough to make it's presense known on the skyline. How about a photo, anyone?

I thought the same thing. Only from the MLK bridge does it presence felt when crossing the river.

And whats up with those three huge A/C units at the bottom of the ramp when coming west across the MLK bridge?

Is it me or is the rendering much better looking than the actual building? For example, that curvy line along the green glass on the front is actually MUCH wider than what is on the rendering. It doesn't look good.

Such is the nature of renderings, unfortunately.

Such is the way, but it isnt going to be THAT wide. Look at the webcam and youll see that there is no glass up on that area of the building, but there is in the rendering. So the glass with lights beneath will cover most of the wide band youre talking about.

...im guessing

I was at Live on the Levee last night and Lumiere Place had a booth-on Lenor K. Sullivan blvd south of the arch (near the bathrooms and ATMs). Unfortunately, no one attended the booth which leaves a bad impression and is a sign of bad PR. Has Lumiere announced any details about their opening and retail/hotel??

The glass on the South side of the building is turning out to look amazing, which is great because that translates into a great view when looking down Broadway. Looks like they have about 5 floors to go on the cladding. The North side however is still horrendously dissapointing right now. Does anyone know anybody involved in the project that can shed some light onto what the hell they are doing on that side? I just can't seem to figure out why they didn't use the glass from the South side on the whole building. :?
