$475 MM Downtown

$375 MM Lemay

plus additional phase II development

Looks like JCity was at the presentation as well and confirm.
Looks like we are saying the same thing.

$475-million Downtown

$375-million Lemay

$450-million Phase II (estimated)

What a horrible idea. I hope they don't.

I think you need to differentiate between embryonic and adult stem cell research. I am completely against embryonic stem cell research (sanctity of life, takes funding away from adult stem cell research, embryonic stem cells are too radical to control, etc..), but definetely for adult stem cell research (72 cures already found). I have not heard anything dealing with Pinnacle coming down on one side of this discussion or another - I kinda doubt they get involved with any issue dealing where the base discussion deals with a matter of morality.

Construction Project Photos:

MAY 12, 2007

I'll add, coming across the Poplar Street Bridge into the city - this tower draws your eyes northward and expands the skyline nicely. Coming into the city on I-70 from the west - it really makes the skyline look great too.

Great pictures, matguy.

Counting from the base, it appears they have about two or three more floors to add.

I still don't get the "arc of light" thingy, but whatever. This should be a nice addition to the skyine.

I think a lot of people don't get it. Here's what I wrote on another board,

From Pinnacle,

"The tower will be illuminated from within at night with a striking arc of light, creating a new square icon in the downtown skyline."

The side panels forming the arc will play a significant role in the illumination of this building.

The green layered glass is designed to give the building "a glow" at night - hence Lumière Place - as demonstrated in the renderings. How it is going to be achieved overall technology-wise, I have no clue. It might look a little odd and bright-colored during the day, but at night it is supposed to light up downtown - so to speak - and be an iconic landmark. Keep in mind that this is a design for a Vegas-based entertainment company. St. Louis will be their signature property to-date.

I truly believe that St. Louisans don't know what they are getting yet. If what Pinnacle is trying to achieve goes off without a hitch, it is going to be a spectacular addition to downtown.

In the picture below, it looks as if someone is layering the glass on one of the floors.

This may have already been answered however does anyone know how this will compare in size with the other casinos in the area. For example will this be bigger than the Ameristar hotel expansion project?

That place is huge!

What a great addition...I just hope it doesn't hurt more people than it helps.

I am very excited about this project, but I am honestly somewhat skeptical. What kinds of tourists will this bring in? It better not look anything like what goes into Harrahs or Ameristar. I don't want Branson MO on a grander scale.

I'd ideally prefer to see the Landing turn into mostly residential and be a high end riverfront community. maybe I'm shooting too high.

Do you have any idea how much money people spend in Branson every year? I work in travel and if I had a dollar for every person I sent to Branson, lets just say I would have a nice large bank account. I don't really think that you need to worry about it attracting the same caliber of people visiting Branson anyway. Unless of course Andy Williams or Glen Campbell or some other old guy starts a theater inside, and that won't really go with the whole Four Seasons Hotel thing they have happening. Besides if they come down to visit the casino, they will spend money other places too.

If it were just low-end casino there could be cause for concern but it's high-end and a lot more than simply a casino.

Branson's new downtown riverwalk could be better than most anything else in the state -- outside of the Country Club Plaza. May have to look to San Antonio for something similar.

I think he's talking about how gaudy Branson is. Gaudiness makes money in the U.S.... for some reason.

Except that, by definition, a "high-end" casino cannot exist in St. Louis.

I thought I saw a flag at the top of the building which I will presume to be an American Flag. Traditionally that means the building has been topped out.

PostMay 30, 2007#644

I looked again and there is no flag......my bad.

From today's Business Journal:

Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. said Tuesday that it selected Legacy Building Group LLC as the general contractor for the renovation of the former Embassy Suites Hotel at its Lumière Place, its $430 million casino resort under construction in downtown St. Louis.

The property temporarily closed for the initial construction work last month. The $16 million renovation project includes the refurbishment of the nearly 300 guest suites and atrium lobby, and a new porte cochere. Pinnacle said it expects to reopen the hotel late this year as The Suites at Lumière Place.

Todd Weaver, president of Legacy, said in a statement, "Pinnacle is making a significant investment in St. Louis and we are honored to be a part of that excitement."

A sky bridge will link the renovated property to the second floor of Lumière Place, just above the casino floor.

It probably won't look too great during the day to some people, but that shade of green, which is part of a layering of the windows, is going to help give the building its nighttime glow.
