Today, it is fully operational, playing a mix of venue-specific video and computer-generated graphics, i.e.: video of a guy playing craps supplanted by giant dice rolling along.

Who needs a big-screen when you can just tailgate the minivan in front of you?

The taxpayers are already paying for public schools to educate special needs children. There are tons of regulations about that.

While I do not doubt that parents of autistic children do not like public shcools (I mean, who DOES these days? who DOES want to send their kids there? ) that's the path that is currently funded.

I also think it's silly that autistic children are singled out for special treatment when there are scads of learning disabilities that could benefit from a change.

None of ti made sense to me and I'm glad that it didn't pass, this year, anyway.

The tunnel actually opened tonight around 6:00. I used it and it's nice, with flat screen TVs overhead and the same carpeting as in the casino. It opens up right into the casino so is very handy. There are both escalators and elevators at the entrance and walkways to transport you quickly to the casino.

I can't even imagine why anyone would use this tunnel.

Why would anyone NOT use it if they needed to get from Broadway to the casino on foot? It's a no-brainer.

I would suggest the average IQ of people in casinos is below the national average.

Under that logic train, if the cumulative net IQ is superior to that of the City, inclusive of tourists, then Downtown should be supplanted by all of us for all entertainment-based development opportunities for the sake of best utilization of opportunities. As well, your position implies that the construction of a tunnel is purely an appeasement to the less intelligent, and presumably economically less viable.

Concurrently, your suggestion also implies that attendees to the Dome and Convention Center are also feebly minded, including Rams fans and corporate meetings & scientific associations that are Downtown. If they choose to go to the casino, then they bring down the base of reference.

Whether or not your suggestions as to IQ variances hold merit, your argument is inevitably flawed and perhaps suggests horrible corollaries.

unbelievable

Perhaps 'the smart folks' will use the tunnel to walk right past the casino and out to the landing, it is a very easy way to get to the Landing quickly.

Lumière Place Unveils Lumière Link from Downtown St. Louis to the Riverfront

ST. LOUIS, (SLFP.com), May 27, 2008 - Lumière Place today unveiled Lumière Link, a workable 400-foot pedestrian link between St. Louis' central business district and the Mississippi Riverfront.

Built by Pinnacle Entertainment at their expense, with no public subsidy, it represents an $8 million investment in a more walkable city.

"This link is an important part of Lumière Place, but we also think it is an important part for the future of downtown St. Louis," stated Daniel R. Lee, Chairman & CEO, Pinnacle Entertainment, in remarks during the special ceremony.

Lumière Place and city officials toured the well-lit tunnel, which will be manned by Lumière Place personnel 24-hours.

Those people look soooo dumb!

Eye Rolling aside, this is a good thing. I can't quite say I agree with the carpet and drywall approach, not that I am opposed to the carpet, but it will look very outdated very soon. Just wish they could've spiced it up a bit with some innovative lighting, you gotta light it anyway, why not look beyond the "recessed can" page in the Lightolier catologue. Make it an experience instead of a point a-b thing. But as always, form follows function.....

Anyone used the tunnel yet? Also, where does this let out? If I'm in the casino and I use the tunnel I was told back in December 07 that I'd end up at the Edward Jones Dome. Does this let out somewhere outside or inside the dome?
