Pinnacle Entertainment's Lumiere Place, which opened Dec. 19, had a 6 percent increase in revenue in February despite having two fewer days in the month than January. Due to the abbreviated month, the casino had fewer admissions, with 464,625 admissions compared to 496,544 admissions in January.

Now if we can just get Rodney Boyd to work his magic, we can get that loss limit repealed, and they LP will really take off.

I had a friend that was in town and he wanted to go to Lumiere. He said that it looked really nice but the payouts stick. There really isn't a whole lot of good payouts there. We did stay at HoteLumiere and I really have to say I enjoyed my stay. The site my friend booked the room on screwed it all up and for the troubles they upgraded the room. We had a 2 room suite on the 6th floor with a river view. It was nice. Funny thing was he didn't know the Four Seasons was there at the casino and on the same site it would have been $30 more a night. That is according to him. However, the staff at the hotel were great and really nice. The only thing that got me was the fact that wireless internet there was not free or even a decent price. The price was $10 a day. I was like oh no we will pass. Most places I've have been free or less than $5 a day. If that is the only thing I can say bad about a place than it must good.

I travel frequently for business and more hotels are charging for internet now than in the past. I'd say $9.95 is pretty standard, although I've seen higher, too.

If you travel enough, you can buy a monthly package from T-mobile or Boingo. It'll set u up with wifi at most airports and hotels. I used it fairly extensively in Europe.

I have a Verison Wireless card I use on my own laptop when traveling (in fact, the last time you IM'd me I was on Metrolink on my way to the airport and was using it then). I found out Verison has a "pay as you go" plan that I think would be ideal for my work laptop, but so far I haven't convinced senior management of that. What I especially like about these plans is that you can use your laptop anywhere you'd use a cell phone. I can't say they provide the fastest connection I've ever had, but they are at least reliable and have bailed me out at times when other connections (in hotels) have failed.

News 4 ran a story on the 500' tunnel from Baer Park to the casino. They report it will be open and the end of April and be open 24 hours a day. Estimates are 2000-3000 people a day will use it.

Be sure to sit down before you watch the 'raw' video. Man, is that some exciting stuff...

How and why is the tunnel going to be open 24 hours a day, anyway? The casino isn't even open 24 hours a day on weekdays.

That's great, but what about security? Video cameras? Well-lit?

It looks well lit in the pics, but I wonder about the CCTV. Where and how many they will install in that tunnel. I hope this doesn't become a haven for crime, especially on patrons and tourists wanting to visit the casino and using this to access it. :?

Do you really think a casino will have any shortage of cameras?

Watch the video. In it the casino person says security in the tunnel will be exactly the same as it is inside the casino. There were some surveillance cameras in the video too.

I went inside the Four Seasons Hotel for the first time. The lobby itself has beautiful views. Go into a room on an upper floor, and "Wow."

The casino attendance is going to skyrocket once the downtown events start picking up again: NCAA tournaments, Cardinals games, Rams games, summer conventions, etc

IMO, the special events that downtown hosts is what will put the casino over the top. There is no way that Harrah's and the casinos in the burbs can attract the visitors no matter how big of a buffet or number of restaurants from The Hill they bring in.

The neon was added later by an artist. You think they'll add artist work to the tunnel?

Why not? They've got artwork everywhere else.

Other than the light strip (nonetheless which is VERY underutilized) I was very disappointed overall with the amount of light in the facility, considering the name. I see no reason why they would light this any better than code requires them too...

Agreed..... But its so simple nowadays... espeecially with all the new LED fictures out there.... low wattage high footcandle, every color of the spectrum.... wouldn't be difficult to do something spectacular or at least interesting. A little light utilized properly can goa long way.

Workers and a Crane are putting up a HUGE metal column between the Lumiere and 70.... I am guessing, based on the size of the workers that it is about 60' tall. Looks like it might be a post for a bilboard. It is Very close if not attached to Lumiere, so i don't know if it is simply a bilboard or actually part of the casino....

Got word from the building division that Lumiere paid millions for a new sign. This is likely it.

Interesting.... Well, hopefully it is interesting to look at... Aside from the glowhawk, the exterior does not really strike me as exciting. Especially the south end. I think a big sleek, nicely designed and executed sign could add some life to an otherwise uneventful building (exterior).
